Maybe the other one was pulled or didn't make reserve? This one also has the gas door open in the lead photo like the other one.
no, the first one was discussed in the thread marked accordingly. it got to 1.95 and failed to meet reserve. think it is going for auction in Monterey in August. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/first-f40-on-bat.659252/ this one is a different one, and even better.
Here's the Monterey auction link for 84089 https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehicles/jc22_077/1990-ferrari-f40
The confusion is that this car (in this thread) is also covered in another thread listed on Friday and is already the subject of considerable discussion in that thread. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/bat-strikes-again.635223/page-237 Conclusion: Same car and not an additional F40 on BaT at the present time.
The thread you are linking to is in the subscribed area so people who are not members do not have access to that information. Of note for this second F40 (current auction) is a respray of the entire car by the original owner. I couldn't tell if the weave is visible in any of the pictures. It's close to us so we can inspect it, repaint aside and that's not necessarily a bbad thing fr some F40s, just glancing casually at the listing I note the rear wheels have had the lips gloss-polished so the original etchings (Speedline plus specification) are no longer visible, the car comes with a non-original leather pouch, and I don't see the important warranty book.
The toolkit is a bit messy. Too many screwdrivers and some bits missing. But nice it's there along with the tire inflator kit. Indeed sadly the pouch is incorrect. Normally what you don't see is not there, so the F40 lost its warranty book some time. When visiting a classic car dealer Crazy Motor work Mukai in Nara, Japan 7 years ago, I noticed that most car were without their original warranty booklet. I went to look for a 1992 Alfa Romeo SZ, nothing with it. And more exotics were without the booklet, even a Porsche Carrera GT. Odd to say the least. The exception was a 1000 km, one owner 1976 308 Vetroresina.... All complete and mint!
F40s left the factory with Speedline wheels which had visible make and specification etchings on all 4 wheels.
Alright fellas. What do you think this will go to? My guess is $2.325M. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
frankly that 'high mileage' car was pretty good as well, but the (eventual) discount to this one will be justified by the condition. it will be interesting to see how it does in monterrey....i feel that this current auction will affect that as well. and, i hear there is some picture perfect example also coming up in monterey that may crest $3 mil, in which case, all of these will feel like a bargain again.
I have seen far nicer 17000 km examples. Not very sympathetically treated or serviced. One would think the louvered belly pan could be correctly installed. Its only just over 10,000 miles. Think of any of the cars you own and how they looked at 10,000 miles. My pick up truck looked better at 10,000 miles and it was a company truck with my employees using it nearly every day. Whoever refinished the wheels polished some of the etchings right off. The composite under panel under the nose has been replaced with a fabricated aluminum piece too. And its beat up. This thing been to Baja? Rode hard, put up wet.
Bill Noon would be wrong. https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/134255-x?id=132346 Look at wheel picture 12 o clock on Maranello Classic site. And a 2 minute old picture of a clients F40 wheel in my shop. Image Unavailable, Please Login And then there is post 14. Joe agrees and his bona fides are pretty good. As far as mine. I was the F40 concours judge Ferrari invited to Maranello for the 70 anniversary.
the condition is not as terrible as all that. no garage queen, but yes it has been driven. fortunately
