Why in the world would anyone buy something from Superperformance when you can get in locally?

I can order it wholesale if i can find the part number

I believe several vehicles used the same pressure plate. Jag xke and Maserati Merak come to mind first. Unsure of the disc. Should be easily available just about anywhere. If you are having problems locating a new disc, you have have it resurfaced so long as the rest is in good shape

I did a little research last night and discovered the following.

All the 308's and many of the v-12's use the same "friction disc" but the pressure plate on the v-12's is just a bit stronger to handle the increased torque.

I also found an add on EBAY that shows the box with part number displayed!

Martin, Interesting. The one I saw was a CA 4562.....

I wonder if the difference is for the spring pressure?

my gt4 had a pressure plate from a daytona installed supposedly, for a more positive engagement. it was a bit heavy, but worked well. that car would bark the tires in 1-3 !

so I wonder if this same clutch disc was used in any alfa's or fiats, or other makes? It would be great to find a "cross-over" that would work!

Shortly after I got my 85 308 my clutch started slipping at release, as you would expect a worn clutch would do. Many miles later I noticed it slipping when driving on grades in high gear.

When I went to replace it, I found a new looking disc. I measured the disc being removed and found it was about 1/10 of an inch thinner than the correct part number new one and a very miss adjusted clutch linkage to make up for the incorrect disc.

All I can guess is that someone installed this incorrect disc to save a few bucks. Mis adjusted the linkage to make up for the error, it worked when new, but not after a few miles of wear.

Zero advantage to using the V12 p plate in a v8 unless you have enough HP that the stock unit will no longer provide enough clamping force. It was a common mod in the early years and was proven many times not to work better or last longer.

Extraordinary circumstances to be sure, but when I was doing all the rental cars, it was standard procedure to put V12 pressure plates into the V8 cars. In the early cars without the modified clutch linkage, it took two men and a boy to push in the clutch pedal, but it made a big and very real difference in clutch life.

Well, not always! I remember the Mondial Cab that I put a clutch into and delivered one afternoon. The very next day the car was towed in with "no clutch" at about noon. I thought that I had screwed up somehow. When I removed the bell housing, there was clutch fiber everywhere, the driven disc was just naked metal fingers, and the flywheel and pressure plate were blue, blue, blue!!

Well the good news here is that I have finally located the "friction rings" for the clutch disc so not I can have the three units here rebuilt and not have to get new ones!!!!!!

My source is custom making them for me for all the popular Ferrari Clutches so I may just open up shop here!

    Hi Rob,

in what numbers are you interested in? I still have a clutch on my shelf I purchased in 2004 from a drect source, when AP and B&B were already one single company. (pressure plate HE4562, disk HB8140).
i could unpack it and make some pics later today.

No big deal. I just read earlier about the part numbers and wanted to share an real life example. They came as a set and the only marking on the PP was the numbers in the photo and "ENGLAND" So is B&B and AP the same company now?

I'm not quite sure any more what's the current company state. But in 2004 my clutch disk came in a Delphi/Borg&Beck-box and the disk is stamped AP.
Anyway it's hard today to know, which brand is what company.
I even have Alfa brake pads on my shelf, branded as from someone, who is most known for building military aircraft. And even those are now AP. LOL!
