Hi guys, The spring on my drivers seat adjuster rail has failed so that the knob will rotate 360 degrees. The locking "tumbler" wont lock into the track without me feeling for the slot and hoping the seat wont slip and slide. It doesn't appear to be able to be taken apart to replace the spring. Anyone have a spare drivers adjuster rail they would be willing to sell? Thanks!
Have not looked at mine in some time but I would think a spot-weld would fix it unless the spring itself is broken in the middle somewhere.
This may be the same problem I had. I moved the seat fully forward so that the locking lug on the lever cleared the rail lock and then rotated the lever around so that the lug was above the rail. I then held it in that position while pushing the seat back. Hope this works for you.
This is a timely thread, when my car was at the body shop, the foreman (300lbs) broke something in my seat rails. It feels like there is a tab that engages slots in the rail and the tab seems like it broke off. it only holds the seat if the tab is in just the perfect spot, and even then under heavy driving it disengages. I thought I saw a thread on this a while back but cant seem to find it.
Check to see that the section of the rail that the tab on the handle locks into isn't bent. That happened to my passenger seat and I didn't figure it out until after I bought a new rail. The teeth were bent and the tab wouldn't lock into them and seat could slide freely. I straigthened everything back out with a hammer and pliers and it works great again. Now I have a spare!!
Have a quick look at this thread 911rcr. I posted some pics which may help. You may have the same problem that I and many experience with 308 seat runners. Generally its not the spring that breaks, it's the metal that deforms so the lug doesn't engage and hence the spring looses tension. Hope this helps, refer to my posts #5,6 & 7. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293906
