    is it necessary to drop the whole muffler system to replace the exhaust donuts?..my forward donut (the one under the crank pulley) has completely deteriated and looks to be leaking...yet the donut closest to the muffler on the drivers side looks perfect. I've had the exhaust system off a while back and if was a PITA...would like to avoid dropping the whole thing.

    I've had mine off the car several times. You should be able to loosen the 3 bolts that hold the muffler on to the pipe (cat) on the driver's side and gain enough space to access the donut under the crank pulley.
