I am about to re-install the power window motors into my '75 308 GT4, as the PO took them out and put on hand cranks.. DOH.. he thought the motors were too slow..

Anyhow, I don't have any info on how they go back in... and I have the switches disconnected with 4 wires going to each. Can anyone provide tips on removing the door panels and are the motors pretty easy to figure out which way to hook em back up?

    Serg,

I dont' know if the wire colors will be the same on mine. But if I get a chance tomorrow, I'll pull the switches and take a picture of what wires go to which part of the switch. I'll take a look at the door for you too.

    Hope that'll help.

    Serg,
I'm just going to prepare you now. Go into that project with PLENTY of time, plenty of patience, some soothing music and a good state of mind.

The window mechanisms on these things are Rube Goldberg contraptions of the highest order and they are tricky. You will get it right, but it will take a lot of trial and error. Take pics before you dis-assemble what is in there. Look at the diagram in the parts manual also.

Before you put the motors back in, take apart the gearboxes that connect the motor to the cables and clean out all the hardened grease. Re-lube with lithium grease. The motors are plenty strong, but the whole mechanism is so hard to move, even when lubed, that the motor can barely move it. The newer "more powerful" motors sold on eBay and elsewhere don't solve the problem or even help a little bit for most people. It's the hardened grease.

I did a thread with pics on cleaning it out a while back if you search the archives.

    Good luck!

    Serg,

Please forgive me, as I did not get into the door to get any pictures of how mine is setup. Hope you understand, but...

...it's been a very long weekend.

However, I did take the pictures of my wiring as I promised I would.

Remember: "These wires may not match the color of your wires"

But at the very least, it will assure you that there is at least one wire that goes to each (of the 4) connection(s) on the switch.

    Good luck!
