OK, this is a stupid question: What exactly does this engine shield do?

    ??

    :)

    Greg

Maybe this question is not so stupid after all...

from the looks of it i'd say it shields the engine from unwanted impacts.

If you view the scoop from the front of the car and from underneath, the leading edge of the scoop turns down to allow it to catch air an channel it up towards the headers. How effective? Not sure but they were on the cars when they left the factory.

This appears to be similar to what's in the 348/355 section they showed carbon fiber exhaust shields. Any way this kinda cleans the under side up that's why I'm getting it.

PM him, he reads fchat on a regular basis ... and btw without the scoop/guard the headers on my car run noticably hotter when the leading edge of the scoop/guard gets flattened over time

Two of the boxes arrived today; the skid panels and the scoops. The vented panel should arrive soon and then it’s off to the post.

BTW, I followed an early model red 308 GT4 today on Paseo Lucido this afternoon near the Rancho Bernardo High School. Couldn't get close enough to see the driver but it looked to be one fine car.

received panel today. very nice piece. when i removed it from the box my wife asked if it was a part for the bbq. i took it out to the garage and laid it next to the car. hopefully, the elves will install it for me. thnx daniel for you efforts in putting this whole deal together. the camaraderie on this site never ceases to amaze me.

I installed the 308 skid plate and louvered panel that I received from Australia, but I think the scoop for the engine area, wasn't meant for the US cars. The unit really doesn't fit right at that location due to some piping that might be concerned with the US polution control stuff. Instead I think that the flat plate that goes from the cross brace to the muffler cover does the same thing, deflect air up. Funny that neither part is shown in the US parts book. You could bolt the deflector to the cross member, but there is nothing to attach the top of the deflector to, and you would have to trim a little off the deflector to fit, and let the top be unattached.

Did anyone with a U.S. car ever get the rear scoop mounted? I finally got around to doing this and it doesn't look like it is going to work.

Henry...If you decide that the rear scoop will not work on your car, I've got a Euro and it should fit mine. Let me know what you'd like for the part.
