I need a thermostat for a 3.2 engine. I've done a search and looked over the cross reference sticky. Seems that the Wahler or VW stat works for the 308 engine but the 3.2 engine uses a different stat. Has anyone found a suitable alternative? If so, please post what you are using. Thanks.

I got the one I installed in my 328 from one of the usual suspects. IIRC, it's a Stant. They are available from Ricambi America, T. Rutlands, GT Car Parts, Partsource, for sure. T-stats are not that expensive. Just call one of them up and order one. And get the correct seal for the T-stat housing at the same time.

p.s. Remember to install the t-stat with the bleed hole in the 12 o'clock position so you don't end up with an air pocket there.

Or take the 'stat to your local parts store and have them match it to the Stant equivalent for 10 bucks. ;) A 10 dollar Stant has been in my 328 since '08; sorry I don't know a part number. :(

"The Wahler p/n W0133-1633589 is an very expensive item, USD 14.25"

Inflation! Don't you just hate it? :)

Now we are landed in 2017, is there additional information about the various Thermostat manufacturers? Next to Wahler also Stant supplied 328 Thermostats.

The Wahler W0133 1633589 seem hard to get in Europe. Of course for GBP 57 + 21% VAT you can buy one (make unknown) at Superformance but much prefer to decide for the specs myself.

    thanks in advance.

The Wahler W0133 1633589 fits the 308 and Mondial 8/QV but for the 328 and Mondial 3.2 it is different, they also have different part numbers.
From another thread learned that its likely a Wahler 4253.87D (brass) or 4264 (stainless), see attached sketches.
Can anybody confirm and knows better.

I know you can simply buy at Superformance and others but they all differ and I want to be certain to fit the right one in my 328.

It is my understanding that 328's (and maybe also 308 QV's) should run hotter than 308's. This is to my understanding the reason tha the Thermostats (at least originally) were different on 328's. The Original thermostat (OEM Savara) can not be abtained anymore as Savara clodes their gates many years ago and all Ferrari part suppliers have some aftermarket (for fancy prices) From Birdman308 I learned quite some about the Thermostat for the 308's however although few times the questions came-up what to do for a 328, I did not find an answer anywhere..............
