    Steve, maybe it is the licence plate that is confusing me.I thought Ron registered his car b288gto, and the next time i saw it, it was on the cover of "Car" magazine against Rowan Atkinsons Vantage Zagato, together with their first F40 road test, an xperimental Carbon and Kevlar Countach and a 959.I know that Dundas owned a 288 and a Rossa for his racing buisness.Only others i know are Lord Mexboroughs car, Eddie Irvines car,Alboreto had one as did Eddie Cheever and Lauda. It sould not be too hard to trace all owners as they only built 272 not including the 2 evo models.Oh and the guys from Beaulie motor museum had one at new as well.By the way my name is Matt, i live in Lymm, Cheshire and am looking forward to the day when another Ferrari joins my 328 although i think that will be some time off.I can't always get near a p.c. so sorry for the late response.If you need any articles i have dozens of Ferrari books and literally thousands of magazines dating back to about 1984.Good luck with them!

    Steve, i am that same guy with chassis 82603. I have hankered for a 328 for years before i finally got the wherewithall to buy one. It was originally sold new in Dubai and imported here in 01.I got the car from Talacrest in Surrey after seeing many cars and this one really stood out. Other than a narrow escape with a Lamborghini Jalpa in 96 i have been a commited Ferrari nut. I love all the limited edition cars but i think that a good early lhd 355 spyder and early low mileage 550 really make financial sense at the moment.A 550 can be had for around 60k with FFSH, i can't see them dropping much further as a good 512tr is around 50-55k with a f512m fetching a premium on that. My ultimate garage would have to include a Daytona lightweight and a beautiful blue 250 swb featured in an old ferrari world magazine-i think its the most beautiful car ever!..Be good to meet up....Matt.

    This thread refuses to die… since we’ve had so many responses in the last three weeks, I’ve decided to update the list one more time before the end of the year (can you tell it’s a cold, rainy day in Dallas?). The next update will be in June ’04.

    In December alone, we added 25 new cars since the list was last updated in June ’03! We broke the 100 mark!!! We also had our first change of ownership (VIN 78065).

    From Dave328GTB, changes by VIN:
    Here are some of the major updates according to parts manual:
    Door design (inside handles moved, etc.) #71597. Further inside door changes plus horse on mirror (US cars) #75929.
    valves # 71381
    valve seats #76666
    oil cooler #75272 (plus associated parts)
    Major changes at 76626 (88.5 cars)include all suspension parts (forks, shocks, sway bars, etc.) brakes, steering rack and wheels which have more offset than before. BTW these wheels are not the same as Mondial’s in width and offset. Also the front bonnet was changed eliminating the hood bending button strut.
    ABS does not give a beginning number.
    The air box and inlet tube was changed 78069 which I believe coincides with 89 model year in US.
    With ABS came another front bonnet and changes under it.
    Front and rear shocks were changed again at #78613.
    The seats and adjustment mechanisms were completely changed at sometime (no VIN# given)
    There are numerous other changes throughout production, but these are the biggies.

    Information provided by a couple of different sources suggests the latest 328 VINs known were:
    GTB: 83017 GTS: 83092

    Unlike US vehicles, Euro car “model years” are based on calendar years. US “model years” are released in the Fall of the prior year (i.e.: you can buy a US “model year” 2004 vehicle in the Fall of 2003). Here are examples from the list:
    Ex. 1: 74979 is a Euro car registered as a 1987 model year. 74753 (earlier VIN) is a US car registered as a 1988 model year (production date 10/87).
    Ex. 2: 79043 is a Euro car registered as a 1988 model year. 78881 (earlier VIN) is a US car registered as a 1989 model year (production date 10/88).

    Just tried to buy it, but got outbid, car needed a clutch pressure plate, AC didnt work, numerous oil leaks, rust under door mirrors. Targa top didnt latch correctly, Tach and Spedometer Broke, rear wheel bearings need replaced. O yes the Cam belts have not been changed since 1996. Other that that it was GREAT!
