Hey guys, my 1992 348 is giving me some probs. It will periodically lose power and the 1/4 speed light will come on, then when I turn it off and back on everything is fine, any ideas? At this point should I even drive it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You mean the "1/4 slow down" light, right? Probably a bad cat ECU. Swap the two units from side to side. They are located on the outside of your rear shock towers. If, after swapping them, the problem then reappears on the 5/8 side, then it's likely your problem. A new one is here:

The CAT ECU is signalling a fault.
    1. Its the CAT ECU screwin up (common)
    2. Is the catalytic converter screwing up.

OK, easy to solve- Take the Cat ECU from the right side of car (facing the engine as you work on it right). Swap it with the one on the left side. Basically 2 cables that plug in & 2 #8 metric nuts that hold it in place. The CAT ECU is located on the side tower next to the coils (its fastened on the backside) follow the exhaust gas temperature sender lead from catalytic converter up is another way to find it.
If after the swap 5-8 codes than yes the cat ECU is to fault. When you take it out look on backside for a crack along the epoxy mold to the outside edge....That is usually what happens. Moisture gets in & voila false signals.
    Daniel has part (Ricambi)

Other option is this what I reccommend so you do not have to keep replacing ECU's:

    Good luck,

Cat ECU's are best installed free (not plugged into the sensors), with a zip tie holding the free end to the frame, and taped up to prevent moisture instrusion. Get those cats tested, and ask the tester to see if they can take 18-24 months to doa complete and thorough job.

My 91 is dropping 5/8 when the light comes on. This is the same problem another owner had on 1/4. The code given by the computer is that the cat temp. is too hot. Everything has been swapped over and unplugged. The ECU's, the air meters, the onboard ECU's and the oxygen sensors have been changed. The cat's have been removed and Ricambi test pipes have been installed by previous owner. Am I forgetting or over looking something? Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
