Do you know of any supplier who might make better black platic parts to replace the sticky melted console parts? I know there are Carbon Fiber options, but my concern is that CF may look to modern for a classic car. Thanks!

Just scrub it off and spray it with some flat black paint.

Carbon Fiber looks awesome in it. I'll have to take some pics and put them up here.

There are several of the "rubbery" trim pieces that I have stripped the rubber off of and repainted. One of the items in particular is the three-piece trim that surrounds the outside of the engine bay. This trim, approx. 1.5 inches wide, had over the years become scuffed and worn looking. I stripped the rubber off with paint stripper, and then repainted the pieces and put them back on.

The paint that I would highly recommend is a satin black textured spray that I bought at Lowes. It kind of has a "fleck" effect to it, and it absolutely looked very, very nice after it was done. The texture in the paint hides painting "errors" beyond detection, and looks factory! I suspect that this textured black paint would work very well on your interior trim pieces.

(duplicate post as appears on thread titled "348 Carbon Fiber Question", http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59042)

    Hey guys,

As Tmobileguy has pointed out, we do make a replacement 348 console, which actually covers everything from the 2 large gauge holes all the way down to the ashtray console. It's important to note that this is a replacement for the 3 stock pieces of plastic, so you can safely store your originals in your closet. We offer this piece in RHD at no additional charge or lead time.

(straight from our website) The console comes with pre-drilled attachment holes, threaded metal, and molded-in mounting studs on the backside of the part. It fits all models and years of the Ferrari 348, with no modifications to either the part or the vehicle. The stock shift gate, gauges, 12 volt power adapter, and all buttons fit securely in place with stock hardware. Console attaches to vehicle with stock hardware. Thick urethane clear coat provides incredibly smooth, deep gloss and excellent durability.

We’re also offering this console replacement in matte black for significantly less money, for those that need an elegant replacement but prefer the factory look to the race-inspired look of the exposed weave of the carbon fibers. We also offer this option on some of our other carbon 348 parts, including the Spoiler Lip, and another new product, Inner Mirror Trim Triangles.

This part has been extremely popular since we came out with it a few months ago. So, unfortunately, there is a small backlog. The good news is that we have just finished spending the bulk of the last 2 months improving our tooling for this and other intricate and popular parts. Turnaround has improved dramatically, and we’re continuing to narrow the gap between order placement and delivery time.

We are the designers and fabricators of this and all of our parts right here in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. The prices are currently $1250 for the UV-resistant clear coated version, and $875 for the matte black version. Get in touch with us, and we’ll advise you on delivery times.

It is only about an hour job to clean the goo off the center console using Qtips soaked in Goof Off2. Soak and swab, soak and swab. Plan on using about 80 qtips for the center console. I did not remove the console / repaint the plastic and it looks very good.
