This is what the engine now looks like.

The good news here is that I want to change my thermostat as part of this work, and I believe I can do that without taking off the deck lid. Which is great !

It is a vacuum operated actuator which opens the butterfly valve in the centre of the intake plenum at certain higher rpm (to add air flow by allowing some cross-flow between the plenum sides). Sometimes, the butterfly valve (its spindle) will seize at part open position. To detach the top plenum halves, you need to undo the nut shown by the red line on the pic. If the butterfly is seized or not rotating freely, you can dismantle it, clean the spindle and its bore and lubricate. Also check the vacuum unit for proper operation and any vacuum leaks.

Thanks Miroljub - this information is very helpful - and in fact makes total sense now I've looked at the parts diagram.

Next time I'm with the car, I will have a look at the operation of the linkages. From memory I seem to recall it was moving ok, but will check. I hope not to have to take all this apart...

So - I have a question - I bought some Fuel injectors and Fuel Pressure regulators over the summer, and was wondering if others had used these. I couldn't find original parts, so these are after market.

The fuel injectors are these : 1991-92 Ferrari 348 TB 3.4L V8 Genuine Bosch Direct Replacement Fuel Injectors | eBay

    Here are the injectors.

I’m going to send my current injectors away for cleaning. From research Mr Injector seems to be the place to go. But I’m still interested if people have used these. Perhaps they are better ?

Indeed. I will check this. Where did you get the new adapter ? Looks like a brass one ?

It's a universal brass fitting, 10mm diameter at the barb with 1/4 NPT thread. Got it in a shop selling hydraulic, air etc. fittings.

These wire harnesses I brought home so I could upgrade to the gold kit.

The gold kit replaces all the terminals for the ecu with gold terminals to (hopefully) solve the electrical gremlins in the system and in my case the stupid CEL

Grab the old wire with the special scissor things and use the supplies tool to poke out the old connector.

These are the instructions from the company, but I’ve recently found it’s easier to do this before you cut the plug off. If you do it this way the remaining wire tends to “strip” and it’s a little annoying.

Lube up the new boot with the supplied grease

I have also recently found that 3-1 oil works a lot better that the supplies grease....
