Hi Could do with replacing all 4 tyres on my 348 due to age, using standard 348 rims which tyres are people fitting to theirs? Thanks
I'm probably going to be fitting Continental Extreme Contact DW for my next set. They come in the correct sizes. I have the DWS06 on my 986 boxster and they've been a great handling tire.
Depends on what you use the car for Cruising, track use, ... Track use: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 (semislick, Careful in the wet), Toyo R888 Street use: Michelin (SuperSport os Pilot Sport 4S not available in Europe in this size), Conti Sportcontact5; Pirelli P0 Asymmetrico
I’m going to throw on some BFG gforce sport comp 2. Only other one Tirerack had was the conti DWS06 all season - and I have them on my SUV
PZeros. Only matching set available in the UK and I wont mismatch tyres, especially on a performance car.
Have 348 owners worked with alternate tire sizing to expand the front tire selections possible? The 215/50/17 size is odd in the tire world of 2018. I would propose that a 235/45/17 in front (just 0.54% smaller overall diameter) would be possible - although it might increase steering effort due to the increased width. If you opt for this wider front tire, you could get the newer Continental ExtremeContact Sports, which is a FAR superior tire to the DWS06. I use these on my '14 Mustang GT and the grip is phenomenal.
For what it's worth, the ExtremeContact DW has been out of production for quite some time. If you can find some of these, definitely check the date codes before pulling out your wallet.
I did these: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Firestone&tireModel=Firehawk+Indy+500&frontTire=245WR7FHI5XL&i1_Qty=2&rearTire=74WR7FHI5&i3_Qty=2 I was pleasantly surprised. They're nice for the price. sjd
I put these on my 968 because they had good reviews for noise. They are EXTREMELY loud on my car. We do have rough texture roads in Dallas though so that’s probably part of it.
I'm sure the road texture is definitely part of it, as I've not noticed that at all. Or maybe it's just quite relative to the Fiesta ST and the Jeep Wrangler i have. sjd
