The secret is to get a long, pearl-headed sewing pin and slide that down through the hole in the gear and shaft (The head keeps it from falling through). Then, take the tiny rolled locking pin and slide it ONTO the shaft of the alignment pin and up to the hole. Pull the alignment pin so the point is flush with the end of the locking pin. Hold this in place with a tweezers, and give it a medium tap to seat the pin in the hole. Then use a large, flat edged pliers using the side of the gear for purchase on one side, and on the head of the locking pin on the pther, and slowly squeeze the pin to the hole (bending the alignment pin a bit out of the way of the pliers so it can slide out as the locking pin goes in.

Actuator reattached. Suspension warning light still on. Short drive. Turn off car. Turn back on. Suspension warning light OFF. Cost of repair using Fchat and Ricambi replacement gear... $30. Cost to get repair at Ferrari shop: $3500 (whole new set of rear shocks). Cost of satisfaction of seeing that f-in' light go off...Priceless!

Tomorrow: Drive car for first time knowing that all the shocks are set to the the same setting!

    AWESOME...Thanks all.

I was just inspecting mine again, as I had a random suspension light, and thankfully everything up front was fine. If I had to replace the gear on the front shocks, they would definitely have to come out. Rears can be done in place, no problem, been there, done that.

I did the front left on mine in situ, it was a *****, but was doable.

I'm impressed! ;) If I ever have a problem up front, I guess I better give that a try first.

For proper access, you have to remove the largest luggage compartment liner (carpet) piece. i.e. remove the rubber seal and remove whatever nuts/bolts/screws are holding down the liner piece.
