The slip additives for the limited slip diff are counterproductive to what the synchros need. Thus the fluid must be a compromise to the two needed attributes.

And correction to my previous post - it is not supposed to be SuperLight but Light: "Red Line 58404 Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil" in a Smurf bottle as below. So if anyone else has used the Smurf oil inside the 360 transmission or has an opinion please let us know, thank you.

I haven't used it, but the Redline website doesn't list any classification (e.g. GL5) for it, and on Summit and Amazon the product description says "not recommended for most syncro-type transmissions." Based on some reviews it sounds like people with worn syncros are getting some improvement with it, but I would hazard a guess that they're prolonging the inevitable and may be causing more damage in the process.

I think it would be very valuable to find out why it is "not recommended for most syncro-type transmissions." or what is the meaning of "most".

Old transmissions like 360 use brass synchronizers. New transmissions are using paper, various sintered metals, molybdenum, carbon or whatever else in synchronizers. So is that oil great for old brass synchronizers and not recommended for the new ones, or is the opposite true?

Likely means it will eat the brass synchro rings, a common fault with GL-5 lubricants. Our transmissions want a GL-4 lubricant, but our differentials want a GL-5. Unfortunately, they use the same lubricant supply and Ferrari recommends GL-5. Lots of detail on this earlier in this thread.

Not as bad as early Miuras, but still an issue.

I don't know enough to say it's for sure bad for the 360, but the Redline advertising is for dog engagement transmissions and racing diffs which are both high impact/shock load applications, with no mention of any synchro compatibility. Synchros rely on friction and that oil has a film thickness greater than a 140 weight gear oil while the 360 spec is 90 weight. As advertised it may shift better when cold, but at what cost?
