Hey guys. Purchased my 2000 360 about a week ago. Love the car. Just trying to get things sorted out. I locked the doors for the first time and now the passenger door won't open. I can here the door actuator cycling through but nothing happens. It won't open with the key either. It feels like something has come loose inside the door. The problem is I can't take off the door panel to take a look with the door closed. I've searched here and other places on the net with no luck. Any help you can send my way would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that this is your problem, but I know it's common for the cable on the door pull to come out of it's holder, or the connector breaks.
I would start by removing the arm rest pad to look in and see if you can put the cable into position, etc. The pad comes off by gently prying the pad up from the rear (the edge towards the rear of the car, use finger tips or plastic pry bars) and pivot it up, there is a hook towards the front of the pad.
You can also look under the door handle. There is a screw in the cup. Just lift the handle used to open the door (if there is no resistance, then cable probably came out of place), then remove the single screw from the bottom of the cup, and lift the cup out. The cables should be attached to the handle, and the sheathing of the cable needs to be secured in the holder and not flopping around freely, otherwise the door pull can't work. Works exactly like a brake cable on a bicycle.

Use the search function. It's a common problem. There are number of threads from other members having the same problem.

It is much more likely that the cable that goes from the outer door release handle to the door latch assembly has seized. When this happens it jams the latch and will not let it unlock. So the door will not open from either the inside or outside release handle. The symptom is that there will be no spring tension on the outer release handle and the handle feels loose when you try to open the door.
There are multiple threads on this issue if you do a search.
In order to open the door, you will have to lower the window and look down through the window channel to find the lever that this cable operates on the latch. You will then have to use a long screwdriver to move the lever back to its resting position in order to unlock the door. Then you can remove the door panel, remove the cable/latch assy and replace the cable or entire latch assy.

Oh sorry, that's the easiest thing to check. Since that's fine, it looks like MOTOB knows your exact problem. It doesn't seem too difficult to fix. Good luck, let us know how it works out.

First of all: Congrats and welcome to the community. Lovely colour on a 360... TDF right?

Brian (Motob), describes it all correctly. Be patient and take your time.

Ok. Great. I saw a couple of threads on how to fix it...but only after the door was open. My real question was how to open the door I guess. I'll try the screwdriver method. I don't have one long enough to reach so off to the hardware store I go.

You are not getting it. That thread shows photos of the lever on the door latch mechanism that needs to be moved when the outer door handle release cable seizes.
Unless you want to get a hole saw and drill a 3" hole in the outside of your door, or cut your inner door panel to pieces with a sawzall to access the door latch, I suggest that you look at the photos and see if your lever is fully home. If it is not, the door is not going to unlock. You must move the lever through the window slot using a long screwdriver in order to unlock and open the door.

    FWIW,

In my case, a combination of old, stretched cables and "gunky" (technical talk) door latches resulted in the mechanism sticking in position and not resetting from the previous use. See the pictures, easier to understand.

Arm needs to move all the way to the left to unlatch the door. I'm not saying this is your problem, but it's what mine did.

    UNLATCH not umlatch. Stupid keyboard

Gre, have you tried releasing the stuck movement with penetrating oil?
Mine was the same and I soaked and soaked and then soaked it some more until it became free.

My problem is still a stuck cable which I am waiting for in the mail.
In the meantime I've rigged up a redneck fix just so the wifey and I are able to use the car a bit more as the summer slowly fades away.

It works. New cable is still 2 weeks away before arriving in Canada (from Denmark)

I intend to try that method when I get a chance. I replaced latches/cables because at the time, cables were NLA as separate items and I didn't want to go through the process again anytime soon.
