I've read a few articles/postings on the internet about replacing the elastic fabric tension bands that run inside the top and keep the top fabric and support bows aligned for proper folding when taking the top down. Based on the desciption of the problem/fix, this appears to be the issue on my Italy delivered 2000 360 Spider.

Does anyone have a detailed DYI instruction for the disassembly of the top and this repair?

    Thanks,
    John

I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just had my elastic straps replaced at a cost of 850.00. I personally do not believe it is a DYI job.

Mine's going in to my local independent next month to have this done, total cost is $340 I took a look at the area you'd be working in if DIY and thought not!

I have the same issue, the elastic band is worn out so I have to manually push the support bow while the top is opening for my top to rest completely into the bay in order for the clam shell to completely close. I've examined the location of the elastic band and I don't see how to even get to it.

My mechanic said to me that it's a case of unstitch part of the top with the roof part opened and supported and then it's a case of fiddling around in order to get to the elastic parts.... like you I took a look at it and decided it was a job best left to the pros!
