Had a ride in this (or it's sister) back in the day. A truly exciting experience! What is the estimate? $10M? $15M? More?
25 to 35, I guess. Reasonable, if you consider that one year ago a NART Spider (of which there are 10) made 27.5. Marcel Massini
I'd rather have this than the 250 GTO that Bonhams will offer, but I'm probably in the minority on that opinion and the bank account doesn't support either choice so it really wouldn't matter. >8^) ER
The 375 MM is the most beautiful car ever built....period.... Was parked next to it in 1996, the sound of it was also unbelievable. Probably twice the price of the "tre posti" ? Ciao Oscar
this 365P is deserving of a best of show at pebble. truly special. if the chinetti family is selling, maybe they know something about the market......hmmm
There's always a certain amount of subjectivity in any valuation analysis, but I think the NART Spyder would be considered one of the most beautiful designs ever built by Ferrari. The history of that particular s/n played a role in the pricing, as did the rarity. As well, perhaps, as the intended use of proceeds (charity). I don't view this car the same. Aesthetically, to me, it's not as attractive. It's got a one-owner provenance by an important Ferrari family. It's ever rarer. It's got lots going for it, but that seems an awful lot for it. OTOH, if someone paid nearly USD$18MM for an entirely re-built-from-scratch-by-Classiche 375 that is now in the midst of yet another legal battle, then maybe this isn't outside of the realm of the possible. Crazy numbers, though. CRAZY. I feel like I should be selling... CW
Very unique Ferrari! This particular was at Dennison's shop outside of Seattle many years ago to get it running properly before it went to Monterey for one of the exhibitions there. Also Fred had one in the backroom of his museum in Philly in @2008 -- didn't know if it was the Chinetti car or the other? (I was there documenting 2.3/2.9's for another project and did not have time to look close at this Ferrari)
The car is so beautiful in motion. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTvQReCbaOY]Ferrari 365 P Speciale (1 of 2 made), Ferrari 375 MM - YouTube[/ame]
I suppose I should know better than to rely on Barchetta.cc. Thought it was still in Chinetti ownership. Thanks for the correction, Marcel. CW
Saw it in 2010 at the Simeone Foundation during the FCA diner. What an amazing machine. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I would be surprised if this car hit the 20MM barrier, especially with the GTO and that gorgeous 275GTB/C also coming up for auction. It's not one of my favorites, but I guess it's an interesting car.
Was the car influenced by the Dino or the other way around? Also did Gordon Murray influenced by this when he did the Mclaren F1?
Hard to say if Gordon took influence from this concept or how much he knew about it. His design for the seating arrangement for the McLaren F1 was something he sketched up during his college days long before he would actually have the chance to build it. He's never mentioned taking inspiration from this Ferrari in anything that I have read. The book "Driving Ambition" presents his earliest sketch of a concept with this layout, found in a sketchbook from his final year of college, dated 1969 - a few years after the 365 P was revealed of course, but 20 years before the F1 project kicked off. In one of the opening chapters Doug Nye writes, quoting Gordon: >8^) ER
May 1968 sold by Chinetti to Jan DeVroom, who kept it at his Villa San Lorenzo, in Cannes, .France September 1968 traded by DeVroom back to Chinetti (for a Daytona and a Dino). Marcel Massini
One of the recent additions to the Pebble Beach Auctions. The 365 P Berlinetta Speciale, Tre Posti. What a beautiful car. Arguably the pick the the bunch.
