458 Speciale 'whistling' sound when shifting

    Hey guys

    I drove a 2015 458 Speciale and when driving with higher rpms, when the car shifts, I can hear a 'whistling' sound. I have an FF but never spent much seat time in 458 or 458S. Was told that this is normal air blow off from the intake valve. Is this true? Do you guys also experience the same thing?

    I get exactly the same, or I think I do, a tweet/whistle when shifting at 9,000 rpm, my car has just been in for a service, I got them to look at it specifically as the car is under warranty, Ferrari told me it is totally normal, I was told all the late 458’s not just the Speciale had a modification to belts in the transmission that overcomes some problems of early 2010, 2011 cars, the result is a tweet on gearbox at high rpm, and especially when in Race mode, my car has done this tweet from new, and is 2015 Speciale too, the car only has 1,700 miles, again I was told the effect can reduce with mileage. One thing I have noticed is when on track and using the car really hard for long periods, the noise almost completely disappears from mine, so maybe don’t worry drive it harder and enjoy the Speciale....

    It's normal. I believe it's a belt slipping slightly but that's just a rumor, never bothered to confirm.

    Belt slipping! Reported many times by many owners and one of them even selling the car just because he couldn’t hear it anymore :d

    Mine is a 2015 and I have it too... Don't really like it but I can live with it.

    Are you saying that the chirping sound was so annoying that he sold the car?

    My 2013 458 did it and I was most displeased. My 488 does not.

    I have it on my 2011 and also been told it's totally normal by my tech (several times)

    A 488 does not red line and change gear at 9,000 rpm, funny enough I don’t get it at 8,000 rpm either...normal for a 458, especially in race mode

    My 2013 also does it. I was told that it's the accessory belt. I am under the understanding that it will start chirping at about 2 years old (belt on mine is slightly older than that, and I just purchased car a few months ago). I haven't tried changing it yet, but I will change this fall. I'm hoping the noise goes away for the next two years, lol

    Bought my 2011 new and it started doing this early on and did for 20k plus mileage until I sold it. Was also told it was normal
