It definately sounds better than the 650s. It sounds like the f40.

    True True True.
I always say that 911 Turbo is not a super car, it's just a faster Beetle.

I thought that in the beginning, but as I look at those performance numbers, it definitely qualifies as a super car in my book!

Never understood why we can't appreciate what each of these wonderful cars have to offer. If you think a 911 TTS is just a super Beetle, I would find it hard to believe you've ever had the pleasure of driving one.

i drove one for a sufficiently long time to say that the TTS is an incredibly fast super beetle but
nevertheless nothing but a super beetle. the sound is crappy, the car feels heavy and the interior looks like a panamera.

The most I didn't like about 911 Turbo (used to own one for 4 years 40,000 kms) are :
    - The steering feels very very light when the car accelerates. Because the whole weight is in the back.
    - The sudden push sensation.
    - The throttle feels like video game, no feeling at all, because of turbo charged engine.
    - And the worst of all, there is no engine noise, only wind turbulence and tires noise. This is not a standard from super car.
    The best 911 is GT3.

Tone wise it sounds like a high-revving turbo if you've ever had one. Just maybe a bit louder.

Though I'm waiting for everyone to say it's the best sounding turbo ever lol

When it comes to grabbing the keys and wanting to go for a ride the TTS seems to generally be favored. never understood Porsche until i owned the TTS. Love it!!

Agreed, although the 991 iteration while being the best to drive, is somewhat less "Porsche-like" if you're looking for almost wild lift throttle oversteer and "wait-for-it" turbo lag. Except for the sound (or mostly lack thereof), the 991 TTS is easily one of the best cars to drive.

To weigh in on the Porsche discussion. I just sold a Twin Turbo with 11,000 miles in order to buy a Corvette Z06. Why? Every Porsche I have owned looks the same inside so I never feel like I changed (after 5-6 of them you can see I am a slow learner). Why do I buy Porsche's? Because they are technological wonders and go fast. Why do I sell Porsche's? Because they are boring. On paper the Twin Turbo is every bit a 458, but anyone driving a 458 immediately "feels" the difference. I truly like Porsche's, but for a shorter time. No need to degrade any marque, all have their virtues. Imo, the Porsche reflects German discipline and little emotion, while the Ferrari, well, let's just say it is Italian from the smell of the leather to delivering true visceral pleasure. Best

Do you feel the same way about GTXs?

    Thanks.

If only they had used some current to make up for lag . . . I'd be so much happier as a car fan . . . as it stands, viva Speciale!

I just realized I posted on the 488 thread so to be relevant, the Turbo on the Twin Turbo Porsche was unimpressive with a Tubi Exhaust. I suspect , even with a Turbo getting in the way of the 488 exhaust note, the fact that Ferrari is "Italian" (can't get away from that), all will work out in the end. Best

I own a '14TT and a '15 GT3 IMHO it's a toss up. Great cars in their own right. A 911 is different experience. If I had to pick one of my cars it would not be the 458.

I am sure the 488 will find plenty of buyers, no need to rush though, I don't think they make our 458's obsolete.

    Honest write up...refreshing.
Cant fault you at all re: selling the 911's.
I owned two, and keep telling myself not to fall back into the trap.
Same for two Merc AMG's...dont fall back.
I prefer cars with a more visceral nature.
Now the GTR I owned...that one I am still tempted. Probably because I haven't owned two yet and learned my lesson!
