You are probably right. However still a great coincidence that the noise exactly appears when the car is on full throttle.

    Depends what you call big?
The solution here is easy; Ferrari offer a delete option for the nav/entertainment to accommodate for the minority who fancy themselves as being harder core than the next owner. Funny thing is Porsche had the delete option (up until 991) but realized it was such a minority preference they abandoned it - only shortening up the sound system/speakers/sub in the GT Cars in a bid to save weight. 991GT2rs has satnav and touchscreen standard equip. I mean how much weight are we really talking here anyhow?

It's clearly over-boosting that's all.....blowing off the excess. I'm sure they will make whatever adjustments are necessary. Other than that the car sounds great!

Has anyone from the UK actually been told they have an allocation by the dealer in writing? I cannot see anyone who has confirmed this (but there are a lot of posts!).

Nothing wrong with an 812 to keep you happy. Commiserations though :(

Maybe there are much fewer being produced than anticipated

The lucky ones are too busy celebrating to think of FChat, the unlucky ones are in constant contact with their dealer trying to sort it out.

That is the story I'm being told as of today - allocation is finite per dealer. Those getting one will be invited to a closed shop preview at the dealer's on 20 Feb so, if you're currently on the list and you don't get an invite then you will know you're out of luck. Needless to add if you haven't got a new 488 then you haven't got a snowflakes chance in hell given the numbers wanting one regardless of how many other Ferrari's you have.

I’ve heard a little different. Dealers have their total vehicle allocations but the individual sale of the cars to customers is still underway. Now as many have posted, criteria number 1 is owning a 488 GTB. As well intentioned as that sounds, a lot of VIP customers are getting left out. The other problem is that 488 GTB list has placed a number of single car owners at the head of the Ferrari factory queue much to the chagrin of both dealers wanting to keep their loyal customers happy as well as those vip customers as well. If Ferrari factory customers lists have been sent to the dealers, my bet is there will be a lot of names shuffled on and off before the actual orders are placed.

Allocation number was mentioned but not 100% confirmed so not putting numbers up here but it's not big and certainly not enough to satisfy all 488 owners least of all anyone sitting outside the 488 ownership circle regardless of VIP status or number of other Ferrari models owned. Dealer puts forward their list and whatever recommendations they like but everything goes through the sieve where names will be checked off against the new 488 ownership/orders so not sure how the dealer can manipulate that part. No invite to 20 Feb preview = bad luck. Also told it's 730hp....de-tuned for later....whatever that means. These guys have seen the car too....say it's way better than the crappy photo currently circulating.

I am told people find out this week and 100% the factory is involved.

This is the situation as it unfolded for my dealer over the last few weeks. My dealer submitted a list of 23 names of their clients who wanted and were approved by the dealership for the VS. That list was forwarded to Ferrari and it was returned with 11 names last week. My dealer contacted all 11 of those clients including myself who had until tomorrow to say yes or no. All of us who were lucky enough to be chosen and have agreed to buy the car have been invited to a private preview on Feb.20th scheduled tentatively for 7:30 pm completing the allocation process.

I agree the Lusso has a really nice UI. Definitely the 488 could use improvement in the interface but I just prefer the minimalist look and enjoy the lack of a big central touch screen. Most days I drive the 488 but my commute is short...

So did you (and the other chosen ones) have 488's? And/or, was the allocation 11 cars only to the dealership?

Not exactly true. Besides the 488, you have to also own another V8 car. That's real criteria https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/145786005/

Fantastic marketing move, to "suggest" V12 customers and 488 customers to buy in the future the V8 Portofino and Lusso too, to be in the elegible list for the next V8 VS.
They do are the top in marketimg and selling cars, and the brand still has the power to let them do that (and I'm very happy for this)

    ciao

If this car will be 730hp but detuned later....I’m wondering if it actually will be called GTO, with a milder version to come after in freer supply? Question is why? Maybe the answer could be that this car will have high price and performance, will do particularly well with the press and in group tests and the price is made more palatable by the rarity - you are taking big profit from your best customers but rewarding them too.

Then, you release a 710hp version with a milder aero package but still an aggressive chassis setup, and it is that car that spawns the Aperta since the former car might not work so well in open form. All hypothesis but I could see some sense to it, especially with new emissions regulations interrupting the production run.

This is correct. Same for me.

I only have a 488 Challenge. No other V8 at the moment, but was selected by both the dealer and Ferrari.

No not 730 to be detuned - made much more than that but was detuned to 730 to save some for later on. I'm assured the car will be insane....deliver beyond expectations. I'm confident they got it right even in a de tuned state. No point maxing it all out. Most will be flat out managing what the car is capable of with 730 anyway.

It needs to and will I have no doubt. For those fortunate to get one the CF wheels will be impossible to resist :) Like the Weisach package on the GT2RS.
