BB, short for Big Brother, is a new mid-engined hybrid V8 that will be unveiled in May. It's a regular production model, based on the new platform, faster than the LaF, power output rumoured to be around 850-900hp.

    Even the 512TR was very close to the testarossa, same for the 365BB / 512BB, 308 / 328 and 550 / 575M.
Then we saw the 599 with no refresh, but the F12 "facelift" as the 812.
If one one looks far enough it appears there is no real constant rule.

Again, Ferrari taking a page from somebody else's playbook, not a step in the right direction.

Thanks for the brilliant reply. Need to sort my acronyms out, should've been obvious to me! Looking forward to that car!

Not exactly, as there was the 599 and 599 GTO, and F12 and F12 TDF.

The F512M corrected the drive shaft issue of the TR fam... that accounts for something major. Lol

I do not agree to the design compared w the 488 changed marginally only.
I see big differences at front and rear.
It was, for example, marginal from 360 to 430, but not here.
However, if they write a +25k€ on the sticker, the story gets a different taste anyhow.

Are they gonna launch Spider version at the same time??
    Any thoughts?

In my opinion, the car looks great, but wanna see how the spider will look?

Rear?? I prefer single light over double (older models)

Engine glass is similar to Hurricane, as a concept right?

I thought they´ve already changed that in the 512TR.

There was a 512M at FoSA a month or so back, and I noticed that the interior looked much more modern than earlier TR's I'd seen too (It was the first 512M I ever saw).

    .
488 FL is the F8 tributo already unveiled, which will be shown as expected in Geneva. As has been the case previously, first deliveries for cars presented in March in Geneva have been September/October.
Could be even earlier (although there is the August factory shutdown to accommodate) since the production changes are minimal for the F8 compared to the 488 and Pista.
Spring 2021 could be the release of the all new model (hybrid V6 turbo) that will replace the 458/488/F8 with a new platform.

    308, 328, 348, 355, 360, 430, 458, and 488. F8: It's the last rear-mid V8 in that line.

Ferrari maybe counting the tribute that way. But hey, the BB will also be rear-mid engined and will have V8!

But if rumors are true, it will be hybrid and significantly upmarket, not part of that historic lineage.

True, but it will be a supercar in the regular line, way more expensive than this series, plus hybrid. It is a completely new segment. The continuation of the 308-F8 line will now be a V6 turbo/hybrid. The rear-mid V12 hybrid halo car - in the 288-LaF line - will be out 2022 or so. They are broadening their lineup, which was predictable, given that they're a publicly traded company now and are increasing output.

And it isn't only Ferrari that looks at the line that way, a lot of us old fossils do to. :)

Exactly. BB is a whole different thing, Tributo is just a way to refresh a 4-years old car and fill the '19-21 gap, but the MR V8 model as we know it will die when the real replacement will launch with a hybrid V6.

I think almost the same. One way to dismiss the fact that it is a refresh-only model is to call it a tribute to sth. (Do we need to develop sth for a new car? Nah, but in case of malcontents, let's call it the 'Tribute'.) And to be precise, the "Tributo" is just the tribute to the 488 V8 Turbo engines family like they mentioned in their reveal materials. The 458 Speciale was more special car, I think, because of the last NA V8.
And to be honest about the BB, it will have still a V8 TT (we can assume even more powerful than 720CV), and probably will have a better sound than the 'Tribute'. And seamless hybrid technology of course. So I am not going to "pay tribute" to Ferrari V8TT at this time, even that they call their refresh with such pretentious name.

PS. I like the idea of 488 refresh before EOL, the new car is a small step forward on 488, but the whole 'Tribute' thing is a bit ridiculous to me.

A lot of people I know agree with this, and some even think the F430 manuals were the last of the breed. If I'm still healthy and happy in ten years, I could see myself in an F8 though.

I will never sell my 360 sunroof/stick though. Nothing can replace it. :)
