    I think we are on the same page just my response was a bit ambiguous.. Put your foot down and keep it down in a 488 and you reach illegal speeds very quickly. 140 mph, easy.

    With the unfortunate enforcement of speed limits, the cruise control has become a useful feature for road use :(
    Trying to use the power is going to be reserved for tracks...

    This is really why I haven't bought another car yet. Cars are pretty much on the edge of being pointlessly quick. Accelerating so quickly that you can't really touch the throttle for long or go through any gears because the speeds so quickly become lose-you-license quick.

    I really think cars have reached the pinnacle of performance in what is really usable anymore.

    When you think about it, in the US at least, you'll never be driving under 30 mph unless you're in a parking lot or leaving a red light. The minimum speedlimit is usually 25 mph, but 5 over is the rule for the most part. 0-60 mph is now about 2.7-2.9 for a RWD when launching. Well, if you're already at at least 30 mph at any given time, that leaves you about 1.5s of throttle before you're going 60 mph. 0-125mph is now about 7s. That means if you would give the car much throttle for even a couple more seconds, you could easily be doing 50-60 mph over the speed limit.

    How many people regularly drive 100 mph in a 45 mph zone? Pretty risky, at least in the US unless you're in the middle of nowhere. I would probably average 1 ticket per day if I did that regularly, and I'd lose my license very quickly.

    Anyone know anything about the engine for the new car?

    Maybe a V6, 90degrees, 24 valves and perhaps a single electric turbo driven by a hybrid electrical system geared primarily at spinning the turbo or turbos. The engine could still sound decent.

    Maybe just a modest boost in HP say 15 -20, but perhaps a quicker car due to increased boost at low rpm due to the electric turbo. Since it is electric a single turbo might enough to feed 6 cylinders, especially if it is spinning fast all the time

    A 90-degree V6 should not have a flat crank - so would Ferrari go for a non-flat crank, or stick to an appropriate angle?

    Good question
    I believe Ferrari has used a variety of V angles with their 6s

    65 degrees, 90 and 120

    The current F1 car uses a 90 degree V angle. I’m not sure about the crank morphology.

    Buy the Dino 246 used a 65 V and had straighter intakes compared to a 60V. Although the crank wasn’t flat, the timing of the exhaust pulses were evenly spaced—this is in keeping with Ferrari DNA.

    Could it be a mule for LaFerrari succesor (V12)?
    At the very first begin of the LaFerrari they used a 458 as mule.

    Rumors (very big) are that the new car will be V6 and hybrid. And with more than just one electric engine. And with more than just 2WD too.

    I have no idea if Ferrari will have three different combustion engines in the future: 3 liters V6TT, 4 liters V8TT and 6.5 liters V12 NA. Bank angle is different for each engine.

    I would say just the V6 and V8 as the V12 is the oldest engine and three engine models would be too much for such a limited production, but the V12 it's very important for Ferrari history so I cannot even imagine Ferrari lineup without any V12
