So, in chasing my intermittent turn signal issue, and following (previous owner) Nick's suggestions, we've discovered some issues with one of the connectors going into the fuse/relat panel. Specifically, the large blue Amp rectangular connector needs replacing. Wires going to two of the pins have overheated and caused significant damage (melting) so I need to replace it. There is no part number on the connector. Anyone know where to source this? All leads appreciated.

That looks to be the exact same connector burned in the exact same location as my 550! I'm guessing the electrics on the 456 and 550 are the same? Perhaps Taz can weigh in. You were lucky to find the harness....I'm guessing on EBay?

Mine isn't burned as badly as yours, and I think we can salvage/repair it if I can't find a replacement.

    Where in Texas are you?

I have serviced a number of well used examples of both and have never seen that. I suggest finding the root cause prior to repair. It isn't normal. What circuits are effected?

    Hi Brian:

Took a chance and called your shop yesterday...answering machine said you were gone until June 2....anyway, I was going to drive the car down to you this week but the nagging light issue made me rethink things, and then Nick posted that he was concerned about the fuse panel, so we looked: two old airplane guys looking at Italian wiring. I'm afraid I'm not sure what exact circuits are involved. When the Orange sidelight/turn signal is moved to the left, without the car running, the turn signal worked, but then stopped working (just very rapid blinking) and a radiator fan came on! We think the circuit board is ok, and we further believe that corrosion on the connector led to heat build-up. Beyond that we are clueless.

At this point our plan is to clean and repair: apparently sourcing the connector is very difficult. Once we get it back in service I'll figure out a way to get it to you!

Most AMP connectors have a number somewhere. Will take a magnifier to see. To complicate matters AMP and Tyco merged and many pieces have become harder to get. If you can see even a partial number that helps a lot. Another complication is the 550 diagrams are just terrible and have many errors. Ferrari was doing constant updates to fix but gave up a long time ago. Do what you can and call if you need anything.

Thanks Brian. Fortunately, the other guy looking at the car with me is pretty savvy about electrical stuff (he used to work for Tyco) and he is checking with a guy he knows who is still there. If we can spot a p/n I'll let you know. I remember previous posts about the schematics for 550's nit being the greatest.

regarding the Fuse box or relay board,I'm not sure about the difference between the 456 M and the 550 but you may be interested in the post about how connector number are even mix up between the reality and the WSM.

    @ Rifledriver

on my side when i purchase the car last year i have not check this part of the car ,i drive the car everyday ( going to work ) and the car never suffer of any electrical issue .

i root the problem for 3 reasons

first : not knowing the initial condition it is hard to find how long it take to make this kind of damage ( it can be long as well as very short time)
Second: bad connection between the Faston PIN, where it is damage it is for the Main cooling fan, in fact the load is so great that the Engineer use 2 wire to carry the load !!! so if one connector fail or have high resistance at the contact point then the second set of connector will take the full load and finally you finish to overheat : connector, Wires, PIN, and board
Third: the wire are so well bundle together that if one overheat the next to it is going to do the same.

Finally yes on the Connector you will find a Mark "AMP" but no P/n or any special indication for P/N this is why i end up to get a used unit from Ebay

The Harness i salvage to make the repair was about 135 USD ,you do not really care about the Harness version ,English Euro ,USA as long as you have the blue 12 position connectors.

Now if you find the P/N great let's us know :)

Last is the Faston that goes on the board and the connector i could not find ( even on Tyco website ) the proper one
the space between the soldered Pin are not 6.35 but more 5mm.

    Hope this will help
