Changed the rear shocks on my 550 and now the suspension light is on. Never an issue before. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Steve,

Check to see if the shock actuators were properly reconnected.

Appreciate your advice. We never had to disconnect them. Thanks

Use the battery cut-off switch to disconnect the battery. Then reconnect with the switch and let the car idle for 5-10 minutes to reset the ECU.

Thanks. The suspension light comes on immediately after that process. Will it turn off?

It should shut off with a few restarts of your engine.

Steve, John and Barry, that procedure, the battery switch, is incorrect. all you need to do is a drive cycle if there are no other problems. As soon as the ECU receives a speed signal it will turn the warning light off.

If it doesn't then there is a problem somewhere. There are several things one can check themselves but it's shooting in the dark. Best is an SD 2/3 to pinpoint the problem. The Leonardo says it will but in fact it won't.

Some info here, disregard the comment about Corvette actuators as since then I debunked that theory.

Thank-you, Dave. I wasn't sure if the ECU reset was necessary as it's been a while since I last got a suspension light in my 550. Here is the thread I was looking for: Suspension Waring Light

After I pulled off the concrete strip next to the gas pumps, I shut off the engine. When I restarted, the light was gone.

I hate all idiot lights! I wish I still had my 1969 MGB. Now there was a dependable car...except when the Lucas electrical stuff acted up which was every other month and after driving through water puddles.

I wish I still had my 1959 Austin Healey 100-6 MM. Bought brand new in 1959 with the first hard top imported to California. :)

If you turn the ignition switch on/off more than five times without driving the car, the suspension ECU warning light comes on. It is looking for a vehicle speed signal. It sees that the ignition has been turned on multiple times does not see a vehicle speed signal, so it thinks that there is something wrong with the speed sensor.
You don't have to do a hard reset (disconnect the battery) to erase the fault, just drive the car and then shut it off. The next restart the light will be out.
