This car has been for sale since Sept.2015 in the Maryland area. It's been on Ebay a bunch of times. Started at I think $325,000 and was then reduced to $299,000.

Ok, I was thinking about this one. I share my Maranello and my 456M GT with a friend which means he will have a say about when the car is sold. Fortunately he is a) relaxed b) better off than me and c) has space to put the cars but still...
It has though now gone past the point I would buy a US spec car in (strong versus the pound) USD , pay 20% duty, transport fees, storage fees and so on.
I wonder where it will get to?
I dont know this auction house and initially had a lot of trouble trying to bid especially as I am travelling in Japan. That said when contact was made the were extremely helpfull.
Will it be as known about and achieve as much as if it were with Gooding/RM/Bonhams etc ?
I dont know, will auctioning cost the seller as much ? I doubt it.
My guess is north of 200K but lets see. Lets just hope it goes to somebody who loves it and appreciates it's pretty front end ;)

Graham- At times, the big auction houses are only interested in really low mileage late models like the 550 and 575M. This one, at 27,500 miles, normal to us owners, may be too high for them to show much interest. Seems like someone here called a couple of them and there was no interest in a 575M in the 20s for mileage.

...terry,results from last two auctions on three pedal 575's are quite impressive...both cars were well optioned low mileage examples...in your opinion what are "true" values of these cars sold PRIVATELY...there was/is one on eBay with 14,000 miles that has every option just about with an ask of $375,000...owner would take less...also,do you feel three pedal 575's have reached their high...I know they are rare...seems crazy that they could go for much more than they are now...I know they are rare but approaching the half million mark seems crazy...Stuart

I suspect the reserve is near the $285k they had been asking/advertising locally.

The low miles (9000) LHD 575 gated manual on Pistonheads in the UK is still showing for sale at £225k/US$ 320k. It's been available since February. It's probably £20k too expensive.

A 19,000 mile RHD gated manual 575 with FHP sold for £188,000/US$268k at a UK specialist dealer in January. It sold before it could be advertised.

Mark- I remembered you saying that, but did not remember who said it or the type of Ferrari. Old age creeping in.

Stuart- I actually have no idea on prices now. Private sales tend to be quite a bit lower than auction prices, but not always. 575M F1 prices are all over the map, from sub-$100K for high mile examples to $180K for lower mileage examples with good options.

No interest whatsoever? Or no interest at seller's desired minimum? The car surely has substantial value, unless there is something wrong with it, and even at a ridiculously absurd discounted price of say $250,000 the auctioneer stands to make north of $25K. They sell plenty of cars for less money. So I don't get it. If an 11k mile SA is worth $435K at a dealer: Inventory , then one with 14K miles is undesirable? Makes no sense.

I think the big houses will have interest in any stick 575M , I base this on a converstaion I had with RM when in contact wth them concerning another car. So, out of interest I asked them if they would accept my 575M for Monaco ? They said yes without hesitation but with a reserve price of 150 K Euro and a guide price I think of 170-200. I thought that a little below market.
In any case I am not sure I would want to sell at auction, if you have 3 people in the room who really want something you do well, if its only one much less so. If nobody, then you are left with the trade bidders.

Another incredibly low kms Superamerica F1 has appeared on the RM Sotheby's 14th May Monaco lot listing...

    2006 Ferrari 575 Superamerica | Monaco 2016 | RM Sotheby's

Picture shows 190kms but lot listing indicates 221kms (think of the children!)

The current listing also states that it has "four-wheel carbon-ceramic disc brakes" but it is clearly on steels although the callipers are red, no indication that it is FHP.

No guide prices published at this point but I guess they will be as soon as the catalogue is printed...

P.S. the other F cars to be included in this sale can be viewed here and I spot a nice 550 and a very low kms Barchetta..

Yup, ridiculously low miles and she is definitely not an HGTC. On the brakes, FHP is just different pads. Very pretty, though.

Interesting auction! Thanks for posting. I think I spot an Fchatter's very smart F512M on there also.

Is it me or is there something strange going on with the 550's rear shelf?

    1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello | Monaco 2016 | RM Sotheby's

And, it's not to do with any of the Maranellos, but is it just weird to boast that your car has 23 year old tyres or a 21 year old cam belt? Is 23 year old oil even better in this parallel universe?

Well , that auction was a bit of a damp squid.
The 575, the Dino, the 355, the Nissan, the Porsche, the Alfa all unsold.
Reserve/Buy it now prices can now be seen, 285K for the 575M !
So maybe the reserves on the cars were too high, maybe this was not the place to sell and the right people just weren't watching ?
In the Automobilia section there was a signed scrap book from period of John Surtees, signed by him, the sort of thing that would fly off the shelf at Bonhams Goowood sale here attracted bids of 20 USD.
Anyway I think we are no closer to finding the value of a 3 pedal "real world" used 575M than we were before this auction started.
MY commiserations to the consistent best bidder on the Maranello , defeated by a greedy reserve IMHO, good luck in joining the club in future. Unless you were a trader looking for a steal :)

Well, I was right on reserve :)

This seems a fair price. I would not sell mine for $285k. $350k starts to get me thinking.

I think this is the exact same car I could have bought (directly from owner) for approx. $120K at beginning of 2015. Other than the higher mileage and a bit of cosmetic work it was an otherwise very nice 575 stick. Whoever bought it last year is just flipping it (unless its the same owner) for approx. double what they paid (and put into it). Another great financial decision on my part lol. In retrospect it would have been a nice driver for about $150K or so (assuming you spent a few bucks fixing it up which obviously the owner did). At $300K or so its just to rich for me as a fun driver.

It would be nerve racking as a seller but people do say that to encourage bidding you should set a lower reserves on online auctions. Bidding repeatedly and seeing that you have not met reserve is discouraging.

I'm a fan of ballpark staring prices. If the reserve is $285k why start the auction at 100k? Start ar 200-225k. Real buyers won't be turned off.

Low starting bid works best. In my experience you want as many bidders as possible in the game. At least gives the appearance that the car is coveted. Nothing so frustrating for a seller as to see bidding stall prematurely. Unless the car is a one-off that they absolutely must have, buyers are there also for the excitement. If it's a car they've gotta have then they'll just bid the reserve at once or hope the seller reduces the reserve during the bidding. But if things stall, that same last highest bidder is quite unlikely to bid against himself, even if he has the budget to go higher.
