Thanks for the clarification about the percentages in the production/color table, Terry.

Here is another Superamerica at Ferrari Scottsdale. NART blue with Blu interior, HGTC, and a new roof. This has to be a super collector car, as it has a 7-SPEED F1 tranny! Or maybe they're counting reverse plus the six forward gears? 8,486 Miles, VIN FFGT61A750144573. Asking $235,000. Posting this for info only. I have no affiliation with the car.

Don- You can tell they are used to dealing with DCT Ferraris more than the older ones. That Superamerica has just about everything you would want, including HGTC, but the blue interior will be a hard sell, for some reason. If that was a beige, black, or cuoio interior, it would be a very quick sale. If I were them, I might even redo the seats only in cuoio. Would look fine with the rest of the trim in blu scuro (navy), which looks much darker in person than it does in photos.

Curious ain't it, about blu scuro?

Terry, while I'm on the 575 tech thread, let me ask you this question: what's the deal about Maranello engine mounts? When looking at ads for 575's particularly I so frequently see reference to engine mounts replaced. How come? if a problem what are the symptoms and ought I have a worry with my 10K or 11K miles 575?

    Hi,

I'm new here (to the 575 section). I have spent a few hours sorting through this "575 Technical Thread". I am trying to find a concise summary of major differences/upgrades that late model 575Ms have.

I am ready to purchase a 575 (not a SA) and it would be VERY helpful if there was a "cheat sheet" explaining how different productions integrated updates and or improvements.

Can anyone (please) point out or re-post a summary?

    Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the post #.

Please tell me if I understand this correctly. According to "575M 575 SA Updates Rev 1.8.doc" if the subject 575M's assembly # is higher than the assembly # listed on the form then that 575M contains the updated part numbers. Is that correct?

That is, if I'm looking at a car with an assembly #56XXX then that car would contain all of the updates on the sheet except the last 5 listed on the chart, see below:

By the way, can someone please explain what the last 4 entries mean?

Now I understand that I need to know:
    1) Engine number
    2) Transmission number

So, how do I locate both engine & transmission numbers?

I've read "the engine number is printed in the first page of both warranty cards" but if I don't have access to the warranty card is there a plate on the car with the engine number?

I know the assembly number is represented by figure 5 below, but what are the other plates? I'd guess, #1 & #2 are VIN, #3 is engine number (but I can't access that), #4 What is this??, #5 assembly number.

Is the above a correct assumption? What is #4?

I'm surprised in your reading this suggestion did not come up : download a copy of the owners handbook here All Ferraris for more useful background - very handy to have a convenient pdf both before and after purchase

An official Ferrari dealer might be willing to correlate chassis no to engine & gearbox from their MODIS & also confirm no recalls are outstanding

Jimmie- Was out of town, so not doing much using my Blackberry.

Allen- Yes, all of that is in the owners manual and this thread has posts on how to read the engine number. Post 201.
Are you just looking or did you pick her up? You have to remove at least one panel to check the transaxle number.

Emanuel, Seth- Sorry, missed your posts and questions.

On the Superamerica roof, changing the two sets of pneumatic struts fixes most opening and closing problems. The one set is a replacement part, the other set not and requires having the struts rebuilt or someone building a set that matches the old set. The exterior set is very easy to change, the one on the inside is more of a big deal, with fairly expensive labor to complete. Seems like it was in the $1K range to do those inside ones.

Seth- Ferrari motor mounts are notoriously fragile and the 575M ones, while a big improvment over the 550/456/456M mounts, are still not particularly good. At your low mileage, though, I doubt you will have any problems. Mine have 21,500 miles and are still working fine.

I have to watch my motor mounts now because on the tech inspection for this Tuesday's upcoming track event I was told by the garage that one of my motor mounts is "dry". I have never heard that term used before but it seems to indicate that it's fragile.
Has anyone else heard this term when referring to motor mounts before?

P.S. I have just over 37000 miles on my odometer now

Thanks Taz; two questions: what are the symptoms and does the repair/replacement require engine-out, i.e. is it a major project?

Seth- No engine out. Passenger side is easy, driver side a pain. Seems like it is about $1K plus parts.

First part of question is you may start getting clunks up front over bumps as the engine moves independently. On a 550, you may start hitting the oil (temp or pressure, forget which) sender.

Allen- Thanks, but unfortunately that is an option list and not a build list, which would have the assembly number. If you can find that, I will add her to the list. I will definitely save the option list, thanks.

Here is a build list so you can see the difference. Looked in my files and I have some of them listed incorrectly, too.

    Taz,

Here's another one that doesn't have a late enough assembly number for me. Please note, this vehicle is a US vehicle (according to the dealer) despite being located in Canada.
    1) Assembly # 54269 / VIN ZFFBV55A040136922
    2) It was originally a US Vehicle
    3) Is the odometer in kms or miles? 5,116 Miles
    4) is the interior a factory option or aftermarket (particularly the red dash, pillars, and seat inserts)? Factory Options
    5) Please email the factory build sheet showing options. = Attached build sheet
    6) Is there any after-factory paint? Never been repainted or fixed

Allen- I already have that one, but no photos. The interior is custom by Ferrari as noted by the extra compioanario or custom. That same thing applies to paint jobs and non-standard accessories. Several 575Ms had the Superamerica leather covering for the center tunnel, as an example.

Rosso was not a standard leather, bordeaux was, so that cost extra, too.
