You are correct Terry, my 575M is going into winter storage later on this week. So yes, its probably best to wait until the Spring season when I am taking it out of storage to get the OEM list of FHP parts and hopefully by that time Philip's race shop will have the done the work on the anti-bar as well. We'll discuss it in the Spring.
Thanks also for the information on the Porterfields that Ricambi sells. Right now I am not sure what I have on my 575M (came with the car) but it seems that the front left brake is the one that squeals. I have driven near Alex's (Bratman's) 575M and it really does squeal "like all get out".
    Thanks
    Clyde

I'm sorry Terry, I misunderstood, I thought you had a list of alternative parts from aftermarket suppliers that would help someone approximate the Ferrari FHP package without the expense of purchasing it through Ferrari. Does such a list exist?

Ok thanks for your insight Terry, the OEM list is helpful in the meantime though.

Sorry if this is already answered elsewhere in this thread. I have searched and not really found a specific answer to the question: Is there an *easy* way for a layman, with visual inspection not taking the car apart, to determine whether a given car has FHP or HGTC or neither?

Mike- Real easy on an HGTC with huge 398 mm front and 360 mm rear CCM rotors. Or look for the double wall tailpipe.

For FHP, measure the thickness of the rear anti-roll bar. Should measure about 21.5 mm for FHP and about 17.5 mm for stock. You can also remove a rear wheel and read the tag on the spring with the part number.

If you mean can you walk up to an FHP 575M and say, "Aha, FHP", no. Having a dealer print a build sheet from MODIS will also tell you all the options installed when new.

One of our FChatters across the pond just bought a B spec, three pedal, 575M 129486, AN 46603, Verde Zeltweg with Cuoio interior. Engine Number 69685.

Another owns a B spec, F1 HGTC 575M, SN 136421, AN 53570, Rosso Corsa with racing seats and carbon fiber option, yellow calipers. Very early HGTC built in 2004 and used as the Geneva show car for that year in March 2004

    Both very nice 575Ms.

Seems like I missed a 575M somewhere along the line. Will have to hunt through the threads.

I am a new 1999 456M owner and would like to know if there is a way to get the assembly number from the VIN and/or Motor No? The metal tag on the front ducting is missing.
Sorry for such a mundane request, but I am new to researching the provenance of a vehicle.

    Thank you

Dennis- No, there is not, but if you give us the VIN, we can look in Matthias Urban's book and see if it is there. The surefire way to get the assembly number is to ask your local dealer to print out a build sheet for you, providing they go back to 1999. That has the AN included like the one below.

Taz, I find this interesting: contrary to the large majority, I've never been very fond of Maranellos in rosso corsa but with those giallo calipers this one car looks better to me.

Thanks for the help. The VIN is ZFFWP50A2X0113827. Any help would be appreciated.

Dennis- I have some time in Double Uglies, RF-4Cs and F-4Gs, in the 80s. The Es were retired by then in USAFE and so were yours.

Unfortunately no AN in Matthias' book, just shows she is Grigio Titanio with Nero interior. Next step would be to get your nearest dealer to print a build sheet for you. Not the very similar option sheet, which does not have the AN.

The Verde car above is mine, the photos seem to have lost a little clarity in their travels between Taz and myself. I am currently in the process of importing the car from Belgium to the UK.
It will arrive soon and I will take and post some better quality pictures.

Thanks Taz. I will take your advice and see if the dealer can get the build sheet.

I flew ATARS (AdvTacRece) missions in the RF-4s off Kitty Hawk into the Ashau Valley, and the Iron Triangle...Phuc Yen, Hanoi, Haiphong. Main stead was the F-4B., with ~350 hrs in the F-8 Crusader.

Dennis, your remark about the F8 Crusader takes me back to my old ship U.S.S. Intrepid. I was her legal officer but as a line officer asked my C.O. if I could qualify as an OOD underway and did. In the fall of 1957 shortly after returning from a combined NATO fleets operation - Strikeback - we ran Operation Crosswind out of N.O.B. Norfolk; flight operations intentionally in far less than ideal wind conditions and the then-relatively new F8 was one of the aircraft tested. Although I'm strictly a blackshoe sailor, almost two years on Intrepid makes me feel half a brownshoe and I still wear [unauthorized] miniature wings of gold in my jacket lapel. When a knowledgeable person asks what aircraft I flew my answer is - I didn't drive the aircraft, I drove the air base. It was a pretty awesome responsibility for a 24 year-old kid, OOD on the bridge, you've got the conn and tactically control the operation of three plane guard destroyers covering your ship. Greatest learning experience of my entire life.

As I'm rambling on, occurs to me to mention that though I have certificates of admission to practice law before all New York courts and the Supreme Court of the United States, the certificate I treasure most is the one commissioning me as an officer in the United States Navy.

    Out.
