I have put GTO rims on my 2008 GTB and they look sensational (pic attached from recent road trip). However my dealer will not put GTO tyres on because they say the extra rolling width of the tyres will affect the electronic diff and potentially cause inadvertent activation of the e diff at certain speeds. The GTB tyres on the GTO rims look terrible because of the rims stick out due to being wider than the tyres. Has anyone got experience with GTO rims on the standard GTB and is the e diff thing really an issue. I wouldn't want traction control to kick in inappropriately at 200kph! Thank you in advance

I had the GTO MPSS (315 v 305) on the rear of my 599 but with the original challenge style wheels and I never had a problem. And I drove that car pretty hard. Btw- your car looks great!

I am running with the MPSS 315s on challenge wheels on my '09 GTB. In "wet" mode the traction control intervenes on slow ( <25mph) left hand turns. No problems in sport. Dealer said problem is because the ratios are slightly off because of larger rear tire.

Could it be reprogrammed/reflashed to the GTO specifications?

Thank you! I had them repainted to the matt silver colour of the original rims. Car in this pic is covered in dirt from the road trip! Thanks for the feedback re tyres.

599 has a conventional limited slip differential, no e-diff at all. Not even GTO...

I have GTO wheels on my GTB, only use GTO spec tires when using these wheels.

The GTB tires are too narrow. I have put over 20,000 miles on my GTB with GTO wheels and tires with no issues.

It is not the size of the tire that is the issue, it is the ratio between the front and rear tire sizes that is critical, if you change that ratio it will cause issues with the abs, in this case the ratio between the stock GTB tires and the GTO tires fall within the acceptable ratios for the abs system.

IMHO and experience. the GTO spec tires will not cause you to have an over steer issue as your dealer told you, the increase in tire width was to address the inherent under steer issue with GTB's.

Buy the correct GTO tires from Tire Rack and have a reputable shop install them ( I have had two sets of GTO Michelins but I current have Pirelli's and like them better, I am on my 3rd set of tires).

Enjoy your car and put the correct tires on those rims!

I had some aftermarket 21" and 22" Forgiato rims on my car when I bought it and there were no apparent issues. Since have changed to 20" Challenge wheels for cosmetic reasons.
