Hi all I recently noticed an oil leak located in the front part of the engine. Pics below. Its seems to be a very slow leak. I am wondering if others can offer some insights and views. I do plan to take it in the shop. But any words of advice appreciated. I am working in that area right now on my engine. Until the cambelt covers come off it could be coming from any number of seals, and just exiting at that escape point. So you are looking at cam seals, crank seal etc as the likely culprit.
I doubt it, same procedure as a belt change I should think, although in my case it was a bit easier that way! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Whoa. A belt change is an engine out exercise. I am going to observe. And will post an update. Thanks for the reply once again
Ah sorry no, I meant a belt change is not an engine out job, mine required far more than that hence why its sat on a trolley
Not much to report as yet. I took my 612 to the Ferrari center. They could not find the source of the leak. They cleaned it up, took pictures and will take another look in a month. I am taking pictures when I can to show a log of the spread. But it seems minor and so, likely a gasket that needs replacing (hopefully). On another note, coincidentally the engine light came on - I was pretty sure it was because of a loose gas cap (full service only in the country I live) and the attendant didn't screw back on properly. Anyway, all good at least for now
