Fascinating thread. I have been looking at 612’s and wondering why there was so many early models for sale but next to none 2009-2010’s. This thread explains it!

Old post, but I agree with you, Ferrari cannot be trusted, based on a plaque which says 3025. When you count the chassis on F-Register, you find 3195 units already.... even if there are certainly some mistakes. I am more into the 599s and I know nearly 900 Gto when Ferrari says 599 or 149 SA Aperta when factory says 80, etc....

This explains why almost all the 612s for sale were 2005/2006 when I was doing my research + why prices for the OTOs and late models were much higher (even including the fact that they were improved models, prices were considerably higher, jumping to different levels). When possible, I would like test-driving an OTO/late model (to compare with the 2006 I had driven).

If I remember correctly, you didn't really care for the F1 transmission in the earlier 612. The F1A is, in my opinion, a significant improvement, but it is best to think of it as an automated clutch rather than an automatic transmission. That's really what it is. If your expectation is that it will behave like a modern automatic, well, you will be disappointed.

The F1 transmission in the 2006 612 I drove was far from the experience I had when driving the Cali30 and the FF (much better, quicker and smoother with Cali30 and FF). I actually love driving/shifting with the paddles as mush as I can (when in Miami traffic I revert to the automatic). But I'm curious about the late 612 models, could not find one to drive (+ prices over my budget).

No way you can compare a dry clutch F1 system with a DCT system, but I thought we already explained that.

if you get anywhere near Barber Motorsports Park I’ll be happy to let you drive my ‘08 OTO HGT2. I think you will understand the price differential.

I did all the sticky buttons on my 599 this year, it's worth it!
