At the Ford dealer today I came across an '11 F-250 King Ranch with a whopping $64K sticker. I'm not shopping for a truck; I just window shop but was floored to see one this expensive. I knew trucks were creeping past the $50K mark but I never thought $60K. I know dealers can put crazy ask prices on "custom" trucks but this is straight Ford MSRP; it didn't even have whale penis leather (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262540 :D).

For truck buyers...What's the typical transaction price on something like this? If an F-250 can get this pricey, what does a maxed out F-350 go for these days?

Thought this was the right place for this thread since full-size trucks are quintessential American and this big dog has plenty of Muscle. :)

Yes its the same for all the big three. This truck you looked at has the 6.7 diesel which is the top dog though at $8000.00 extra thats still a lot of money. The one I want is the Ford 450 4x4 crewcab dually 6.7 manual with the towing package. Huge money may just wait when one comes up slightly used, though that may be promblematic too. Since my 03 Ram 4x4 Cummins crew cab dually manual is still doing a great job. Its not as much hp as the new Ford though Im still pulling my 44' goose neck fully loaded at 75mph and not breaking a sweat doing it. Thanks Norm

That's my least favorite style of truck...duallys look the best by far.

I configured an F-450 the way I want (Lariat with almost all options). $66,180. Not sure how an F-250 got up that high to be honest...

Weird...back-to-back F-450 guys; I asked about F-350s not their big brother! :D I worked for a Dodge dealer in the early to mid 90's and I recall the Cummins being > $4K option back then. Nowadays this Ford has over $9K just in engine and tranny...yikes.

Hello and I agree the dually is the best in a crew cab for the longer wheelbase needed for towing. I guess $66,000 for the dually 6.7 is about right, is that I hope for a 4x4 crew cab too, gotta have AC of course with the interior package. Need to run the truck a lot to get back that kind of money, LOL. Thanks Norm

Hello alot of that you can thank EPA as the new lower sulpher levels and the stupid regenerating exhaust system with an extra port for a fuel additive that must be used or the engine will go into limp mode. But that 450 is still sweet, now if only it had the Cummins engine in it then that would be Perfect!

Judging by the pic you posted earlier and the words above it sounds as if you are a Dodge, err Ram, guy. I had a first gen Quad Cab and of all things traded it for a Neon. Needless to say the Ram was far more vehicle than I needed but I've wanted another truck since; I later compromised with a SUV.

    64k diesel,Garbage....

Tundra crewmax Platinum, bolt on a supercharger, exhaust, Big brake kit, and about 10k in other extras you will just barely touch 60k tax included. The biggest bonus, it's friggen fast!

Hello Theres a reason you dont see a Tundra working in Towing companies. The Ford and Ram are Work trucks, frames dont rot out and they last. Also a Chevy is a great looking truck that will get you to the Soccer field in comfort. Love a good truck debate, just like who can pee further, LOL. Dream work truck would be a Ford chassis with Cummins power and Chevy seats. Now Imsure that with Toyotas money or whats left of it after all the recalls they could build a decent work dually to challenge the big three ( medium three) but not now or the near future. Thanks Norm

LOL! When you said 350, I was thinking "uh...does he know the 450 exists?" Btw, you COULD go for the F-550 if you really like, but it comes with no bed. I built one there for $61k-ish. I'd still go with the F-450, though.

Mine stickered for 65k but it was lifted, big tires, wheels and nothing will out pull it. I would not have a tundra. What do you use that for, to pull a lawnmower trailer? The transmission would burn up in one trip pulling my car trailer loaded and get about 4mpg.

I thought F-450/550s were chassis cabs only b/c that is the only way I've seen them on dealer lots (IIRC).

For fun I just spec'd out an '11 F-450 King Ranch and it cracks $68K with the high dollar options (e.g. navigation): http://bp2.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/2011-Ford-F-450#page=/Accessories/ Seems like a bargain next to a F-250 that is only $4K less. :D

I believe an F450 can be specced a high enough GVW that you can avoid "urea" additives and California smog.

This may make an F450 cheaper than an F350 in the long run.

I'm not sure, but they will definitely make the early 2011's shoot below $35k at breathtaking pace.

I am pumping about 575 HP out of my Tundra as it is right now. First 2k miles have been awesome

The one used in this review is a bit more than the one I saw ($64.4K vs. $63.7K): http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/05/tow-test-review-2011-ford-f250-super-duty-part-1.html

Different strokes...........Not sure about the new 6.7 but for 2500 bucks on the old Ford 6.4 you can have 500 hp and around 1000lb/ft of torque at the tires. Still tow a house with it and get twice the gas mileage of the Tundra.

Diesels are another planet when it comes to actually getting work done. No way I would go near a half ton for actual towing etc, and still having the ability to put down huge power numbers. Just not the same class of vehicle. You buy a half ton for towing an ATV or quad around and general ease of daily driving. You buy a diesel when you want to move a mountain all day and all night. I have a Chevy Avalanche with a 496 big block gasser and I wish every day that I had simply got a diesel.

Yeah, but it's a light truck. Like the F-150, put a trailer on it and your cargo is a pack of chewing gum and two friends.

Atleast in a Tundra you dont have to rebuild the entire rear end at 75k miles. Its not going to compare to a f450 though. Plus would not be dealing with the morons at the Ford Dealership. My best friends f250 has been to the dealership no less than six times dealing with exhaust issues. Ford cannot figure out the problem. It blows that giant diesel blowout constantly.

I tow just under 9000lbs w/ my loaded enclosed race trailer with a '07 Hemi Ram 1500. It gets 11 MPG but rolls without much complaint. I was talked out of a Cummins at the last minute. I still admire the Cummins but cant fault my 5.7 Hemi either - and I am pulling quite a bit more than a ATV. Even the 1500 sticker price was ridiculous at $37k, but the price drop off sticker was more than 30% when it came time to buy. I would imagine these would be similar? No matter... Cause as soon as I can build a garage big enough I am getting me one of these blue ones! :)

Hello youre problem is with the Exhaust regeneration where it stores the exhaust particles and then blows them out at some computer controlled time, which uses Extra fuel to ignite and blow it out, just crazy. Plus it adds weight in a storage tank to the system. All the Manufactures are having this same issue, its horrible. The 2011s suppose to have this figured out but in the 350 class and down you need to add a seperate additive to Oxyinate the fuel. These newer lower sulfur emmissions are tough to comply with. As a result many owners are simply removing the exhaust and going aftermarket. Thanks Norm

you are a little out of your league on this one... or perhaps just making the wrong argument...

Plus I love seeing "fast trucks"... ... ... whats the point of a fast pick up?

Also, i love seeing trucks with the big brake kits... what a waste...

buy a car if thats what you want...

    just my opinion
