I’m certain the the FCAM camera is mounted behind the windshield with the rear view mirror assembly. It’s the radar unit for the ACC option that is mounted through a cut out of the front grill. The ACC is optional. I don’t think the FCAM is optimal any longer, but perhaps I’m mistaken there.

What do you think that camera is then?

As mentioned above, at least in 812 SF or GTS, the FCAM is mounted in the rear view mirror area behind the windshield.
I guess that may be one of the surround view cameras, or a parking sensor.

On the 812 the FCAM is definitely mounted just above the grill. Very visible (always reminded me of an overgrown clitoris but maybe Im sick). The camera that is in the windshield is for ADAS, more specifically the road sign recognition. It is also used for emergency self braking.

The FCAM camera is used for traffic sign recognition and lane departure warnings by the ADAS systems. Neither of these requires the radar mounted in the front grill cutout that the adaptive cruise control (ACC) uses. It is the front radar that is responsible for the emergency braking response, not the FCAM camera.
