That does not sound like a turbo to me. Not sure what is the car and what is the recording.

Turbo's are the last thing I would want to see on an 812.

When thinking about what kind of power we should expect, and if it would be hybrid, I'm thinking about where in the line-up it slots in.

Until the F80 debut, the 812 VS is the top model in the current line-up. When the TdF debuted it was only surpassed by the LaF, so I wonder if there's logic in saying that it will be a hybrid assisted N/A V12 faster than the SF90. 850 PS V12 supported by a system as or more powerful as the SF90 electric system. The breakthrough here could be the use of a very compact electric system.

Honestly, I don't think any of the above is correct. Just speculating to pass the time:)

Not sure where any electric motor and battery could go, especially on a spider - there’s basically no room?

I forgot about that video. Sounds like a turbo to me, but I’m no expert. If not, there’s something sucking air as he gets on it more and more. Still sounds great, just some extra whooshing sounds. Unless it’s just a whole lot of tire noise?

A 48-volt mild hybrid system could fit, but it's not what I would call a 'breakthrough'.
and Ferrari wouldn't dare ruin the best v12 on the market with turbo's, would they?

If the power goes to the rear, motors will be a small issue. A small motor on the in board ide of each half shaft. 150 hp is a tiny 6-7 kg motor, that's it. There could also be ways to fit a pair of motors up front. In other words, the motors are never really the issue in an electric car, power, charging, system control and cooling is. This is why I wonder If they will introduce some crazy high tech power supply out of F1.

Yes there is a high pitched noise, but at the same time, the exhaust sounds too "clean" and the engine seems insanely responsive.

Could this perhaps be electric supercharging?

I have wondered in the past how and where and when Ferrari would use their electric turbo patent that came to light in 2018. It could do wonders for sound quality for turbo engines, feel like a supercharger at low RPM, and have the turbo boost at high RPM. It seems like thinking that has been extended upon from LaFerrari and FXX-K work. And of course, Formula 1.

There were some journals that wrote about the patent but then things went quiet (no pun intended). This is one of the many articles.

    Thank you for posting.

This is extraordinary and could very well explain the loud whistling noise in the video.

It also proves that the v12 is not muffled by the traditional turbo.

And finally could be the big surprise that Ferrari is hinting at????

Excited to see and hear the versione speciale when it is launched officially. Also, potentially interesting is how this patent could apply to a mid-engine hybrid or turbo V6 while also preserving sound. This patent suggests a huge breakthrough in many areas, including emissions. Very exciting.

    Me too!

I wonder if they could apply the same tech and divert my Pista’s turbos so that it sounds better?? LOL!!

That ain’t tire noise. High probability either electric supercharger or ultra compact electric motor assist.

Either way ... a pretty big flipping deal for a lot of reasons. This would mean the 812 GTS was actually the last unassisted V12 and the 812 SF was the last unassisted and unfiltered V12 that will ever be made by Ferrari.
