True. I have repeatedly begged my dealer & mechanic to permanently disable HELE (start/stop), and they’ve said it’s not possible. Makes me doubtful that GPF, AEB, etc, will have easy delete options.

I would think they'd save GTO for an Icona car. It seems an obvious choice for a V12 tribute and would likely be the most in demand of all Iconas.

A shame they would have to detune it to reduce engine sound in order to comply with US noise regulations which according to Porsche in the Porsche Club article above are more stringent than those in Europe ;)
Before I get vilified just a gentle dig !!!
I hope we all get it in all its V12 glory.
PS.Thanks for dragging thread back on topic.

To be honest I've no idea.Just couldn't resist as that was what Porsche said in the article posted ( see 672) in support of how bad GPF is for sound.
Porsche say they tuned to the limit they could for US noise regs which are currently stricter than Europe.

As an aside from the main topic, my 812 came with HELE permanently switched off. I have never touched the start-stop button on the roof as a result. It wouldn't surprise me if there is an undocumented facility for switching it off. Happy to find out more if you would like me to.

Seems to me that the plastic rings that they’re inserting when the car is brand new and are supposed to burn off with first hearing of exhaust would cause more pollution than the entire GPF system is trying to save, lol.

ENTIRELY TRUE! ...When plastic is burned, it releases hydrochloric acid, sulfur dioxide, dioxins, furans, as well as particulates. These emissions are known to cause respiratory ailments and stress human immune systems, and they're potentially carcinogenic. What is plastic made of? --> petroleum!

    https://www.no-burn.org/burning-plastic-incineration-causes-air-pollution-dioxin-emissions-cost-overruns/

I'm sure the GPF exhaust system burning off the plastic rings must smell quite lovely...

Just trading one type of pollutant for another. The more we investigate, the more ludicrous the GPF appears...

I found this 2014 Autonews Europe article quoting the Ferrari power train director.. Among his quotes is a statement that at turbos won't be a good fit for the V12 in the future due to insufficient space in the engine compartment, but hybrids could. Perhaps this means that an 812VS is either a lightweight, a hybrid of sipome

Also interesting about co2 and Ferrari. The implied co2 number Ferrari is aiming for still fits their increased volume level.

To my knowledge, you can switch it off permenantly but you will not find a dealer or tech to do it risking wrongdoings against law.

I asked and they said no because of law. They hinted they wont even if they know how.

Uhhhh I think this is actually called the GTFO. It’s horrific. They need to un-build it ASAP.

I believe it depends on the age of the 812.Early ones could be permanently disabled.

Is it '19 model year ?
Mine was delivered April '19 and I'm told I cannot permanently disable.

Yes, MY2019 & U.S. model. I believe they would disable it for me if they could.

I have MY18. It can't be permanently disabled, however it remembers the last setting - meaning it got turned off on day 1 and it never got turned back on.
