Wikipedia mentions the 488 as being F142M and it didnt prevent the pista from being produced. In the case case of thev488 the F142VS-M was a downsized displacement with turbo... could it be then that the 812VS will also be V12 turbo with smaller displacement ? From the sound of the test mule as pointed out previously that could be the case. And that engine could be the base for future v12 turbo hybrids used in the car that may well sit above the SF90. Will the 812VS really be therefore na v12? Unsure

Changing from NA to Forced induction means reegineering most of the car, in this case I believe Ferrari would have waited for the 812 replacement
At least until now all the VS version use the same engine as the basis version, in an upgraded version, but the type, type of induction, displacement remains the same

    Hi Olivier,
Good to have you back and posting.
I have always assumed 812VS will follow normal pattern and be a lightened 812 with more aggressive bodywork and a slightly reworked chassis and engine.
It is a big want for me so also hoping it will not be Limited Edition.
There have, however, been quite a lot of hints that engine may get some "help".I hope not but normal rules don't seem to apply any more !!

    Bonjour Olivier,
In a context where the 812 is already labelled 812VS-M so modificata tdf, lighter than the F12, and with the new GPF added which takes out power, do you think it’s realistic to expect a traditional VS of the 812 with more power ( meaning probably close to 900hp before gpf) and materially less weight?
    Merci d’avance.

I think test mules require an electrical triangle symbol (shown on the exterior) if KERS/battery assist, maybe a supercharger

It can have a turbo and be NA… ;)

Turbo doesn't mean always Turbo Charger ;)

    Hello Mepassione,

I'm far for being the best expert to answer, but I do believe that's quite possible,900hp is maybe a little too much, If you consider the ration of the Gto Vs GTB and Tdf Vs F12, I would say around 850

    Cheers,

So an e-turbo. Makes sense since it won’t impact sound however they’ll have to integrate a 48V system.

    I don't think that a 48 V system can add a lot of power… 350 A are 23 HP only...

I would go in another direction

48V to drive the e-turbo compressor only.

So we are saying here the 812SF is the last non assisted na v12 and as far as sound is concerned probably the last of the great sounding V12 for pre GPF 812 since the VS like the GTS will have GPF which as we all know doesn’t produce as good a sound
Is therefore the pre gpf 812 the one that will mark the end of an era as suggested by both Jethro Bovington and Chris Harris? Should we appreciate that car and the F12 more ?

    N/A = no compressor

And with 23 HP you can't move a compressor that has to feed a 6.5 liter engine that revs at 9+ k rpm

E turbo technology that can help ferrari downsize the engine for further weight reduction. Either way if that’s the case this is the base for the future 812 replacement which will be turbo/hybrid with gpf

Perhaps use the e-turbo as a kind of torque fill at lower RPM and then turn off at higher rpm?

For info i was told today Ferrari aren’t taking more orders on the 812SF and are focusing on the GTS and maybe who knows the VS

    They always do this!
    Had a plan.
Perfect garage was 812 VS plus Pista.
Now I need to keep the Superfast as well if I get a VS allocation.
Probably wrong thread but do Monza being produced now have GPF ?

I know....This is hot on my list. Curious to see what it ends up being. Things are kind of sounding good for the life of the 812 without GPF.

Everything seems to be Pointing in that direction at least. Could that mean higher future value and desirability? Let’s see. I have a feeling if that’s the case F12 will also be more appreciated sooner than we think
