Those Bischoff mufflers with the wastegate pipe are very rare. Even rarer with that tip. Sourcing a good one is extremely difficult. The dual outlet 1980+ is available from Porsche but they are obviously not correct for the early cars.

What is the build date on your car? Curious to see how close it was to the muffler date.

with the dollar gaining strength i think prices and buyers will be cooling for those across the pond to buy US cars. do not know if cooling prices in general, but they now may bring out more buyers in the US.

Agree, originals are scarce due to mileage and road conditions playing a heavy toll on the muffler. The only reason mine may have survived is that it was removed and stored - one good case of modifications not being such a bad thing as long as the parts come with a car.

FIA Nr. 645 (Group 4) shows a 930/50 engine with a muffler tip but the tip is gone in FIA Nr. 3076 (Group 3).

I don’t know the build date but it was invoiced by Pon’s on 10 May 1975. It’s only a one-day truck-transport drive away from Stuttgart, Germany to Amersfoort, Holland so perhaps the build date is March or April 1975. The earliest part date I've found on my car is Oct '74 and the latest Feb ’75.

I think the magnus turbo was a fairly priced car, lots of miles and a little rough around the edge but a good solid honest car. A very low miles 76 was just listed on the pca pano site for $200k, owner pulled car off the market once he was inundated with inquiries. This one just popped up-http://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/porsche/911-turbo/1976/266279

I posted a while ago looking for help with my interior. COA calls interior russet. I thinks it's lobster. It has plaid inserts in seats. Def very orange tone. Tony at autobahn interiors says he hasn't seen this orange of a color. It has faded some and behind panels it's more red but I really need some help. What is russet. Car is in for paint and I want to redo the interior right! Mike

hmm, my interior is called light red (according to the COA for my 1977 930) and it has a definite orange hue to it as well. Don't suppose that's much help, but here is a photo from when I first got her for comparison.

Steve, did your PCNA COA provide the interior code in addition to “light red”.

Mike, did your PCNA COA provide the interior code? If not, I would call PCNA and explain to them that you would like the interior code they received from Porsche AG in addition to “Russet” they provided on your COA. The PCNA COAs many times just include the interior color (vs. code) and options (e.g., sliding roof instead of option 650, etc.).

Light red was used on U.S. Turbos from 1977-1979. It is a bit of a chameleon that changes to red-orange in sunlight. Here’s another image of light red (in addition to Steve's) in my ’79 930 that shows a more red-orange appearance in sunlight. Note the rear deck in the shaded area that appears redder in this photo.

Idart, dug out my COA tonight, next to the note about Light Red Leather it had code 95, presumably the colour code for the interior. Would be interested in comparing this code with Mike's.

That confirms that code 95 was used for light red from 1977 to 1979 so Mike’s Code 72 is for lobster (vs. russet or light red).

Hello everybody. Luke here in South Australia. I have been following this forum for some time now and I'm blown away with how much I have learnt about 3L 930s..... on a Ferarri site.

After looking at 911s for about 10 years I knew I would never be happy with just a 911. A silver 930 was the car I saw at 10 years old in 1984 and that image has never left my head. A 911 was not going to cut it for me.

A couple of years ago I stumbled across my 1976 930. I just happened to be driving through a country town for work. There it was, on the side of the road covered in dust with a little "for sale" in the front window.

Basically the guy had no idea of the cars status. I bought it that day for less than a new family car. You could say the current market puts a smile on my face.

No doubt you guys will pick it has some parts that are not correct for it's year. Hence the reason I have been tuned in here. I see TKO has a wing for sale but can not seem to be able to PM him?

Anyway thanks for all the good reading and expert opinions. Any feedback on my car is welcome. I am going through it slowly myself, every nut, bolt and washer.

    Good looking car :)
Anyway you look at it, you are lucky you managed to get a nice one without paying huge money........that is the important thing.
Now you can have fun sourcing out the missing parts to return the car to stock or stockish condition.

A good rear spoiler is not found on every street corner.....but they come up for sale on ebay or at pelicanparts once in a while.
Make sure you get one with nice intact rubber as it is no longer available.
Then you will need a front valance with fog lights mounted on the outside. That should be pretty easy.
Depending on how much of a purist you are, you will need a set of snorkle style headlight washers.........they will probably be the hardest parts to find and they will be ridicously expensive.
But you can buy repros here: Dr.Konradsheim

7"- and 8" x 15" inch fuchs rims should be relatively easy to find but not exactly cheap.

Passenge side mirrors was a factory option in 76 but many cars had them fitted later, so you may or may not want to delete that mirror.

Do you have more pictures? (engine bay & interior)

Luke - what is your chassis #? Very cool way to find a 930.

I await the more studied options of others, but I suspect so. BTW for those searching, ChromeLondon has one on ebay right now that looks well restored. Wish I could've found one for that price instead of having to restore one.

The Bamberg was standard for U.S. Turbo Carreras but for RoW, it depended upon the country of delivery. In the '76/77 German Price Lists, the Bamberg was an option for the Turbo (Koln was standard with no cassette player) but for other countries such as the Great Britian, it was standard. I believe for Italy, no radio was standard - Koln or Bamberg.

Very cool – I thought that might have been your post on Pelican regarding engine capacity. Your 1976 Turbo was equipped with a 930/50 engine, 6760098 and was 1 of 400 Turbos used to homologate the 934 for Group 4.

Yes still has the same engine. Very keen to learn what I can about the car ......obviously. I joined the local Pclub, only to find nobody knew too much about the 3L 930. Guy here I get my parts from asked Porsche Australia about it. They seemed surprised the car was still complete with matching numbers. Still I can not find out how many where sold in Australia. Is there any way of gaining production info from another source than PA?
