Just finished watching, for the 15th time, the absolutely marvelous French film "A Man and a Women." For those who wish to see spectacular vintage footage of LeMans and glorious Ferraris, I strongly suggest that you go out now, yes at this moment, and rent this film in its original (French) version. It was an independent film that won many awards when released in 1966. Great shots of testing of the GT40, and great LeMans 24 hour and Monte Carlo rally footage. I was in college when it first came out, and it was this film that created the romance of the GT40 for me. It is, in my opinion, one of the best films ever directed (a simple love story with just the right amount of technical racing footage).

Sorry to bore those who prefer Bad Boys, or Gone in 60 Seconds, but this is really a classic.

    LOL

I love it as well. Is there a difference between the French and English versions? It used to run on TV occasionally, but I haven't seen it in years. If my memory is correct, he uses a GT 350 as a street car, doesn't he?

Poor Anouk Aimee spends the whole movie messing with her hair, flipping it aside. Flip, flip, flip. I would have duct taped it to her forehead, she was driving me nuts.

Not only is Jean-Louis Trintignant a winner of the best actor award in Cannes (1969) he is also the nephew of the great F1 driver Maurice who drove for Ferrari winning Monaco in '55.

Bill - I find the subtitled version more interesting, as the acting (in my opinion) has to make up for voice inflection. I find that these actors do a great job of conveying a message without having to hear their lines.

The street car is a 289 Hypo (hy performance). I believe this was too early for the 350.

Whenever I hear the song, I reflexively turn on my windshield wipers.
