I wondered if they might do a tribute to the 330 TRI/LM. Front mid V12 and the last front engine to win LeMans outright. It also was an open roof car.

Its a good question. The answer is with extra preparation and care. It is doable.

Would love the SP4 to look like an F40 with a gated stick shift

The SP3 with gated stick shift would have been a perfect heritage car

I think the ship on gated stick sailed a long time ago and Ferrari has shown zero interest in going back to it. I would not be holding my breath.

For production cars sure... but I think would be great on a limited heritage car

And increase bottom line. Could charge insane premium for new stick shift limited model. Extra $100k? 250k? million more? Sure, why not?

I'd love a gated stick Icona as much as the next person, but I'll have to play the Devil's advocate on this one; They already seem to be in a position where they can charge about whatever they want for a car and it'll sell like hot bread. "Here's our $3.000.000 Icona SP4, inspired by bla bla bla, no stick shift, 500 units sold out before it launched". So why bother spending R&D money on a gated shift model, when you can repackage what you already have

It seems that only Americans care about manuals these days. People in Europe who have been driving manuals our whole lives have gotten over them... In the US the manual is exotic. Over here, every other car has one. That's the difference.

Can't speak for others, but for me, the appeal of a stick isn't that they're "exotic", it's that they're fun! They give the driver another way to interact with the car, and there's real satisfaction in doing it well - even knowing I'll never be nearly as fast or consistent as a DCT.

Nor is it about novelty. I've been driving a stick my whole life too (my first non-stick purchase was a McLaren on my 39th birthday).

That doesn't mean it has to be for everyone. But doesn't seem silly that some of us enjoy it. Different strokes and all...

Fair enough, but I don't see moving a stick as engagement. Rather a hindrance, I would say...

Especially because an SP4 will be made in such limited quantities, for VVIP clients. One can only assume that the majority of commenters will never get one, and maybe never see one in person.
