I think as others have noted the 167 will form the basis due to the glacial gestation of that new platform. Ferrari going with the electric theme means less money for old style non electric models. Thus Ferrari will 'double up' with development of the 167 platform for two models. First the 812 replacement followed by a new Icona loosely based on the Giovanni Michelotti custom Ferrari Daytona. Note the unique hood trim (aero blade) that appeared later as a solution on the 812 Competizione. The huge price premium these icona models command even for the initial buyer seems to make the V12 motor mandatory. There is also the previous NART history with the limited F60 model to. 'Logical' is not a concept I would associate with Ferrari planning. They have a habit of surprising us.
Maybe he meant to type SP4 and not SP5. I mean Ferrari wasn't even making a front engined car in the 1980s.
I agree that 288GTO and F40 are two myths worthy of homage. However, as I mentioned previously in another topic, paying homage directly to them would imply placing the F154 engine in the classic Icona line, which IMO is incompatible. On the other hand... Ferrari can pay homage to the 308 (launched in 1975), which has mega relevance for the brand, and was the basis for the development of the 288 GTO, and of course also the F40. Even the successors to the 328, the 348 and F355, bring a design language that began with the 308. The historical importance of the 308 is enormous, and an Icona of it would pay homage to the 308 itself and several models that followed, including the 288 and F40. And then an improved F136, N/A, with ~650 hp, could be present, which would be suitable for the Icona line.
There is a rumor that there will be a new V8 Sports car between 296 and SF90, so SP4 could be based on that? Although we’ve never seen the SP model being introduced before the ‘standard’ production model it’s based on, Ferrari could do that; SP4 with non hybrid V8 and then the new Sports Car that is suppose to be the F8’s actual successor. Ferrari has only stopped designing new V12s the V12 going into the F167 (812 replacement is just an updated version) The replacement for the Sf90 will have a new V8 if what I was told is correct. which could be used in the icona's also.
It would have to be re-homologated for today's emissions regulations, so not happening. Iconas are based on current cars' mechanicals.
Just for quick comparison, the 458 Italia has an average emission of 307g CO2/km, and the F8 Tributo, approved under Euro 6 and produced until 2023, emits 292g CO2/km on average. Proportionally, the difference is negligible, especially considering the 10 years of difference between the launches of the 458 and F8. The F430 emits an average of 345g CO2/km, 38g CO2/km more than the 458. A much greater difference than the 458 and F8, which is just 15g CO2/km. The F136 F achieved excellence in every way. In reliability, efficiency and modernity, it doesn't lose to the F154 IMO. If it were still on the line today (like the F140, which has been around for almost the same time), undergoing improvements, it would certainly be emitting less than 290 kg CO2/km.
It's not only about CO2. NOx is more important. Anyway, the N/A V8 is no longer in production, so it cannot happen.
My guy tells me it will be under a 1000kgs and the V12 will put out 1001hp ,Redline is 12,000rpm. and you heard it here first a manual gearbox comes standard.
With the F250 launching /showcasing this year , is the SP4 likely to be launched next summer ? I believe some SP3s still need to be delivered ?? Any updates on likely SP4 dates ….
I'm curious as to how the SP4 would fit into the preliminary launch calendar for 2025. Believe the rumors for now are SF90 Facelift/Modificata, 296 VS and then the BEV in Q4. A launch every third month if they had to fit the SP4 in. I could see it launch in early 2026 instead.
If its a V12 it will have to be 24/25 and I guess it will launch just before the SP3 completes production as it with take over its V12 allocation. If it its a V8 it could be 25/26
