can we try a BAR thread in the NYTS area first?

    it works great

one thread, must have the word [BAR] in the title, its an open/free posting thread within the guidelines of FChat..after 1000 posts a new person can start a new bar thread and the other one gets locked.......

It was a solution to the same problem we had in the Northeast section of corvetteforum. Everyone stopped creating BS threads like, "Look at This car" or "Check out my new toaster I just got from Italy". Another benefit to it is, instead of going thru 5 different threads of what was said (in the sub-section), we can just go to ONE thread for all NYTS free posting/BS posting. Creating a sub-section may not work, reason being,The rest of the country may not understand Tri-State humor and take offense and this can start out into bashes

Rob, we can do one thread (I'll start) and you'll see it will work!. This will eliminate 90% of non-related threads here in NYST section, the other 10% you can lock the thread.......this will be the easiest solution and you dont have to waste your Labor Day weekend .

Let me know, and lets give it a try. :)
One more thing, can we have smileys? lots of them hehehe

sometimes a sentence can have a totally different meaning by just adding a smiley to it.

Ed, I know that is a valid alternative. Here is what I have against it. It is very good for users to just hang out and post about nothing. We have threads like this in Europe and UK for example. However, there are many Bar type discussions that for organization need to be in their own thread. With the sub-forum it will also add load to the moderators as they have to move thread from main forum to sub-forum. This doesn't work as well merging threads into a single thread.

The sub-forums work really well and clean with the forum organization. Take a look at UK for example. I still support a bar thread in the sub-forum though.

    Thanks for the input.

What I was saying, ONE thread with free posting at a time, when it reaches 1000 posts, the thread gets locked and a new bar thread starts, NO ONE starts any other BAR threads while theres an active BAR thread or any non-related threads at NYTS or else you do what you have to do. You would not need to merge or move any threads, cause all free posting will be in ONE thread.

I just looked at the UK sub-frame........Thats more of off-topic where everyone starts any topic and that discussion needs to stay on that topic. Bar is more of a hang out type of free posting.

I am liking the idea of a OT Forum for the NYTS forum.
Currently there is more drama here than in a soap opera.;)

Im thinking 2 subforums for NY Tri-State. "Classic/Vintage" pick one.... for those who only would visit a strip club for say a stag, come home and tell the wife " Honey im so glad i married you they all looked like skanks!"
The other subforum "Supercars" where the mention of Scores has nothing to do with the Yankee's.

That's a good idea. How about naming the two sub-forums "Civil" and "Uncivil"?
That way people who visit from other regions know where to go if they want to read threads in which people have a normal level of respect for themselves and others.

Can we move this thread as a non "sticky" thread? I think all is done and it would be great non seeing this thread every time I sign on.

Hopefully, the preceding quotes will come to full fruition sooner than later.
