McLaren doesn't have a "best" anything. The whole team and car is sinking into the sunset. Alonzo is smartly moving on.

I might look at it that way if I had an anti McLaren agenda and took every opportunity to say something negative about them, but I don't...

It appears to be business as usual. If media reports are true, the drivers are just there to validate... their role has decreased with advancements in CFD and other forms of computer modeling.

  3. Some great race drivers don't make good test drivers and vice-versa. 'Two completely different execises.

Alonso is busy coming with ways to cheat at WEC. He doesn’t have time to give his main employer right now.

Pole winning #7 Toyota is excluded due to a fuel flow meter issue. It will start in pit lane and lose a lap. That means Alonso's car moves up to P1.

  10. Serious?

Let's see.... There's Toyota and there's.....ummm.....Toyota with the potential to win. What's it to do with LH???

The question is, where are the adult posters? ;)

  14. Okay. I just did. I still don't see it.

LH was right and Alonso walked in and nearly kicked arse. I'm not an Alonso fan nor IndyCar (nor anti) and a fact is a fact.

Maybe it is because Alonso is a great driver and not because all the others are amateurs....How about that?

  16. How about it? Spec is spec and that's fine. Nonetheles, Indy Car is a far lower level racing than either F1 or even the WEC (specc'ing itself out the door, too) ' Quite simple.

edit: Llike to continue but I'm already late for a Derby party. Later.

First race, and he bags a win. He picked the right team for once!

  18. Aw c'mon. Renault was the wrong choice (2 WCs)? Ferrari too (three 2nds in the championship; 2 very close...)? Andretti at Indy (had a good shot 'til blammo)? :p:)

He could have gone to RB, but he didn't. All of Seb's WDC would have been his. 2nd in WDC is as good as last place.

What’s the old racing adage...? Second place is the first loser...?

  22. In anything I've ever competed in; nay; anything I've ever done, the better I've done it, the better I've felt about myself. No matter what others think or say.
Ask anyone competing if they would be just as happy even just one position further back if second is as good as last.... ;)

Vice-Champion obviously mattered so much to Schumacher that he preferred being taken this than starting the next season with a single point deficit. Alonso is referred as "double Wdc", nobody ever mentioned "double vice-Champion" in addition....so for them in their vita vice-xxx is about nothing...

Admittedly I don't understand the above. I do know that anyone I ever competed with would rather be 19th rather than 20th, 7th rather than 12th, and yes, 2nd rather than 3rd, or worse, last.
Following the above theorem, then the teammates of the world champions also all made the wrong choice, eh? And how many champs have NOT not driven the Constructor's Championship's cars? Would that not be the best team as opposed to just the team of the DC? Food for serious thought, no?

Anywho, back to my original point, Alonso has not made "the right choice for once". He's done it before. ;)

It is interesting while you compete but as soon as it is done and goes down to the history books only wins and title count. Look how all the drivers are listed by the number of titles they got and nobody cares how many titles they "almost " won...eh
