Let me also say that is a bit of an assumption on my part. ICJAG rules are nearly identical to IAC/PFA . I have been involved in ICJAG events but not familiar with every single standard.
I was actually invited to bring my car this year as "display only" because it does not fall into a designated class. I declined because I like to compete and have my car judged. I'm hopeful to exhibit it in a judged class in the future as it's always been an aspiration to show at Amelia.
I appreciate the explanation. Didn’t quite understand how a fake is being invited but it must be for display only… still a bit goofy to allow IMO but it’s their rodeo.
No matter what you and I think not everyone agrees. They have no desire to be involved in controversy, they just want to run a show.
While I don’t want to get too focused on the DP003/0846 controversy here it does illustrate how important the rules and judging process is for a show of this caliber. Amelia is a serious and respected show so I’d imagine judges would be made aware of what cars they’d be judging. And, if anyone did a moment’s research on this specific car they’d become aware of the litany of discrepancies between DP003 and 0846. Regardless of how they personally feel as to the car being a fake it seems they’d have to take all of those conflicting items into consideration while judging that car. Would the result be a very low/poor score, or would the judges be inclined to protest the entry all together if one or more judges believe the car to be a fake after looking at the evidence and having rules that deny replicas? It’s a precious situation to be in both as a judge and as a show, even if they didn’t want to be involved in the drama.
It may be a great show but prior to this year it was about which car is prettiest. The judging or lack of it was not its purpose in life. If it is indeed ICJAG event it will not be judged. That was already unambiguously stated. Don't get your panties in a wad. All of that notwithstanding you obviously have an ax to grind with those with those not in lock step with your beliefs. While I share the same opinion my ego does not require everyone to agree with me. I can respect alternate points of view.
I'm fine. I just have no use for someone working so hard to have an argument when there is no one to argue with. My way or the highway types.
Panties and axes. Or, I asked simple questions of someone knowledgeable regarding judging rules and used a specific (albeit controversial) vehicle example. Next time I’ll select a more ambiguous specimen to muddy the water lest an argument be inadvertently created.
Naah, real ones just drive, enjoy theirs and don't worry or get their panties wound up about those of others.
Confirmed for the concours next weekend: 166 MM Touring Barchetta s/n 0006M LaFerrari coupe (unknown s/n) 330 P3/4 s/n 0846 (I know this one is controversial; not trying to take a stand on that here) If anyone has any more info on Ferraris to expect next weekend, feel free to share! Lmao, keep repeating the lie until people stop questioning it! Considering the money at hand it’s not surprising in the least. I have no problem with concours showing replicas or recreations but IMO they have a duty to list it as such in any and all PR.
Here's the full Amelia Island Concours list for today's Sunday show, 6 March 2022. Sadly the new organisers/owners of this previously fabulous show have now also accepted fakes and replicas. So it gets worse and worse then........more downhill. I've been to Amelia at least 15 times in 26 years and I would have expected the new organizers to take better care of it. What a shame. And people pay money to be cheated. Marcel Massini
