Quick question. In the diagram, #30 and #48 "go together". Can anyone provide a photo of this part of their engine so I can see how the bracket properly attaches?

I'm getting ready to detail my engine, and when I started my car up a few days ago, my bracket/pipe cluster looks like it is certainly not in the correct spot...

    Thanks!

ps. excuse the grime....working on it!

Hate to say this (nor know if it's possible to do without really mangling the tubes ;)), but the whole end of your part 30 looks twisted 180 deg:

On your engine, the short leg of the 30 bracket is away from the engine and points towards the timing belt end of the engine, but...

In the SPC figure, the short leg of the 30 bracket is close to the engine and points towards the clutch end of the engine?

Any chance to snap a pic of a correct looking one?

I figured it was bent and way off, but can't find a good ref. point of what "right" looks like.

    Thanks!

No, I don't have a Mondial 3.2 to photo (but hopefully someone will post). I did check many other of the V8 SPCs thinking maybe your part 30 assembly is from another year/model/version but that doesn't seem to be the case.

That same part 30 (136253) is shown as being used on 1988 328 so a shot of that (more common) model could be a reference for you, too. (And, although the PN is different, the SPC picture for US 308 QV and 1985-1987 328 looks the same for part 30 so any of those might help, too.)

Ok cool, thank you Steve for the insight. It seems like an easy enough fix once I get some visual reference. I need to secure it prior to driving though, as it "chatters" against the fuel tube right there.

Thank you Brian. Great ref. point for me to see. Based on yours, mine doesn't look far "off" (I see same 'twist' exists on both brackets). Mine seems flimsier though than it should be. As mentioned, a small amount of engine vibration causes it to 'tap' against the rear wall and tube. Which is not right.

All it is really meant to do is be a vibration damper so the tubes will not fracture.

Got it. After seeing these, mine doesn't seem wrong now. Or maybe its just barely tweaked off from "new".

Thank you again for the photos. Wish my block was that clean, good lord, that's mint.

That would require your mounting bracket and the tubes to be bent. Happens often during valve adjustments. The pictures I posted are of a brand new car.

Howard, it looks like, as Brian mentioned, that at some point the bracket was bent forward a bit? Is it flimsy to a basic pull/push? Or pretty rigid?

also, PS, thank you for posting!

I didn’t try to move it, but it doesn’t look too hard to “adjust”.

As Mr. Crall mentioned, it probably got moved around at some point to allow access to valves or something else. She’s 33 years old, and certainly not a virgin

I recall taking that bracket out to access the slave cylinder.
