    Hi,

Very sad news. I had the fun of chasing Steve in his M5 on quite a few targa stages. He could certainly hold his hold, and knew how to steer the big heavy car round the island! Although I started directly behind him on quite a few occasions, I never caught him. I got close once on the liana stage, but he must have seen me in the mirrors and found an extra gear in the last 500m!!

I'll allways have one picture in mind, which is catching up with them in the queue at the line up to the start of the next stage, only to see both crew out of the car lighting up!

    RIP. Condolences to the family.

    Cheers

    Robbo

I just talked to PSW and heard.

    Very, very sad news.

A true gentleman with all the enthusiasm for cars, food and wine that made the trip to Tassie so memorable.

Will be truly missed by all that met him.

My thoughts with Helen and the family.

    :(:(:(

Another true gentleman leaves the stage. Humble, wise and generous, I have fond memories of the great meals and times we shared. RIP mate and I will think of you every time I have a fine Red wine. Our thoughts are with Helen and the boys.

So sad... I had no idea he was ill; wondered why he hadn't been posting recently. As per all the other comments, he was a true gentleman. What a terrible loss.

I spent a day with Steve and Helen when I purchased the Evo in Hobart. We had a ball talking about wine (got to see his impressive cellar and wine collection), cars (boy did the M5 have some stonk in a straight line), and the then upcoming Tassie trip. We also watched his son play soccer after lunch. I got to see another side of Steve - the proud father, and thoughtful and loving husband.

Revisiting the following thread for me brought back some lovely memories of a wonderful day: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=192675&highlight=james+boag

Sad indeed, especially when Goober gave us a call with the news on the way home from CA.

It was only last week that Goober and I were wondering where Steve had got to, with no Targa West entry. Steve was of great assistance in my recce trip for Targa Tas earlier this year, with both Steve and Tony altering their schedules for a couple of days to coincide with my trip, and providing advice on how to approach numerous stages. A great host, and a great man.

RIP Steve, and condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Steve. Sad to see him leave the stage. I know how much he will be missed by the Ab council and Football Federation Tas. I will miss seeing the Beema around! True loss to all.

I was only talking about him at the weekend with my wife, he was a past President of Football Federation Tasmania and given the World Cup is starting this week, it gave me cause to reflect on the chats we had about soccer and the great times we all shared with cars, food & wine. Most will remember this lunch, the quick drive after and the other great runs enjoyed with Steve.

    RIP
