Not sure if anybody really cares or not but the Swiss vehicle registration document (post #4) on the left side clearly states that the car's chassis number has been RESTAMPED.

Yes, Marcel. I had already noted the comment 'NO DE CHASSIS REFRAPPE' on that document.

However, on the front of the car's luggage compartment it does appear to carry a Ferrari chassis plate stamped F106AS28653.
This can be seen - and read, simply by zooming in on the small photo from the eBay auction listing (posted below).
So can anybody shed any light on the (otherwise) existence of 308GTS s/n 28563 ....
    .... or for that matter on 308GTB (or 308GTS?) s/n 25123 ?
Because Matthias couldn't unfortunately provide me with any conclusive information.

I just got off the phone, from talking with Franco Sbarro. He kindly confirmed that he only ever built one Ferrari 308 V8-powered Tipo P4 replica. The very car that is the subject of this thread.

However, he also told me about the existence of two other Sbarro-built P4 replicas: A 400GT V12-powered car, built for a customer in Tokyo, and another 365GT4/BB powered P4 replica which he built for a Swiss customer. Needless to say, I'll be attempting to track them down for my register, presently. ;)

Well, if the Japanese car is the one I think it is, definately not, Jim.
Besides, in our conversation, Franco was quite (self) critical of his original 'Tipo P4' design.

This was previously listed as 'unknown' (JapV12) in my register records.

Not half as interesting as the Swiss-owned (ex-Koenig) 365GT4/BB powered Sbarro P4 replica, which apparently is bodied as berlinetta.
Hopefully I'll have some photos of it by this time tomorrow. ;)

The photo in post #27 for sure does NOT show a genuine and authentic Ferrari chassis plate. This is some fantasy plate, self made. Just look at the word "Ferrari"............

I was wondering if you'd spot that, Marcel. ;) What else but a 'fake' chassis plate on a 'fake' Ferrari P4 ? :D

This car isn't the Sbarro Ferrari 400GT V12-powered P4 replica, that I thought it might have been.
And as far as my register is concerned that car is still (as yet) 'undentified' and 'unknown'. :(

    Reasons ?
Something - another small photo that I forgot to check before I posted those 2 others yesterday.
Yes - that car has a Ferrari V-12 fitted, but not a 400GT motor as Franco Sbarro had described.
    - Instead it has what possibly appears to be a 330GT V-12 (and a ZF transmission). See below.

And there's another reason, which you'll see in a moment or two ....

As you can see from these photos, apart from the (now hinged) tail section with rear window fitted, the car's bodywork is still quite similar to Sparro's original 'Tipo P4' in many respects.

PS - Before you point it out, Marcel - I don't think the 'Ferrari' chassis plate looks quite right (again). ;)

With a little intuitive Googling, I finally managed to find this online article:

http://www.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/magazine/magazine_int_c4.php?id=107 - a recent interview with photographer 'Dingo':

'France's Dingo has been photographing cars since the end of the 1970s.
He is recognised as one of the most original creators on the scene.
With a touch of folly, as his name shows…
    '

.... which, in turn, yielded this link to his website: http://dingophoto.online.fr/menustart.html

His unique style of automotive photography is still 'refreshingly different' - even more so, 30 years on. :)

.... as a 'Buy-it-Now' for $257,600 !! Why that odd figure, who knows ? - except that it probably equates to 300,000 Swiss Francs.

Still a crazy asking price for the car, IMHO, no matter if it is an 'iconic' P4 replica - one of the very first - and a 'one-off'.

That kind of money could buy you a nice second-hand Norwood P4, with aluminium bodywork and Ferrari V-12 ....
.... and I just happen to know one that is currently for sale (in U.S.A.). Interested ? ;) Then drop me a PM or email.

In fact, during our recent telephone conversation, Franco Sbarro stated that the tail was 'all wrong, and that the rear opened like a (206S) Dino'. He’s right. Look at the outline of the engine cover (4th down) in the preceding photos. (The tail section itself is fixed.)

I note that someone has made an offer on the current eBay listing, which has been declined by the seller:

    http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&ViewBidsLogin=&item=150175408977&guest=1

I wonder what such a car is worth on the open market. I have a figure in mind. ;) Anybody else like to hazard a guess ?

Carbon. I’ll reply to your question by PM, if I may. ;)

Thanks for your additional input. :)

Carbon wrote elsewhere - in the Ferrari Discussion (not model specific) section:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172907

…. And kindly provided the following information by PM:

    Pedantic ? Moi ? :D

From the publication dates of the various magazine articles which featured the Sbarro P4 (the first being L'Automobile N°478 in April 1986) it would appear that the Sparro P4 was completed early in 1986 – the bulk of the conversion work having being done in 1985. Here’s a photo of the car under construction, dated ‘85’, courtesey of Nathan Beehl:
