Anybody interested in doing a Yahoo NCAA Mens' Basketball bracket challenge on Yahoo? If so, I will start one.
I will post a link when the field is filled. Rob said he would donate one of his F50's to the winner....
Ok, I started this one: https://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/group/147068 Group ID is 147068, it is a public group and should not require a password.
Picks made. I have Duke over UNC in the Championship game. My alma mater, Florida, and Kentucky are the other two Final Four teams...T
Gators looked good, but unfortunately I don't see them getting into the Sweet Sixteen. They aren't consistent enough and I don't know which team will show up. They look great at times and complete crap other times. Btw I think Arizona ruined everyone's bracket.
Agreed, but as a proud UF alumnus, have to show my Gators some love! Az loss was a bracket buster for me in the little contest we have with our best friends & family. Funny though, regardless of who I have in my bracket, when it gets close, I always find myself rooting for the lower seed! Az loss not so tragic in my F-chat bracket since I had them losing in next round to Kentucky. T
Sure, I will be one of the guys that say I THOUGHT about Buffalo - ONLY because I knew they hired a new football coach a few years ago who turned around that program and made them into instant winners, and I HAD some leery thoughts about Arizona and the FBI investigation, BUT they did well in the PAC-10 tournament, so I went with them. One of these years I will actually go with my gut instead of common logic.
Well, any of you master prognosticators have UMBC over UVA? Retrievers nutty only won, they laid an old fashioned, country beat down on the Cavaliers! T
+1 Round of 64 has been a tad boring the past few years. Nice to see a few Cinderellas try on the glass slipper & have it fit. T
To them, UMBC just won the NCAA tourney! I just Hope they come out next game and play like that again.
My South bracket is decimated, but if Kentucky can come through, I'll be OK. Doing OK in other regions...T
I missed the UNC-TAMU game as I was watching other stuff, but WOW. Didn't see that coming...especially not even with that margin of victory.
What this year told me is this: Next year, toss out all the 'seeding' numbers, because except for a handful of teams, everyone is equal. All it takes is a team to get hot at the right time, or cold at the wrong time, or get a key injury in the tournament and you are toast. Next year I will pick my bracket from the inside out, instead of from the outside in, that would have helped me quite a bit if I used that logic. It also tells me to play my gut instinct, because I told my co-workers that I would not be surprised one bit if Virginia lost in the 1st round, and I also thought AZ getting bounced in the 2nd round (not the 1st), but I still chose AZ to get to the final 4. Had I done that (gut) this year it would have saved me a few games, but I'd still have a bunch of losses from the other games. We should not be surprised at the Big 12 playing so well, it is a tough physical conference where most of the teams are really good - they beat the crap out of each other, and still, a bunch of them made it to the tourney. The only way to beat a decent physical team is to shoot lights-out, especially from 3 pt land (Buffalo, UMBC). It also helps if you play crappy and allow a 'lesser' team to control you.
