Totally agree with everything you say, the 959 is fantastic, the F40 too. Two totally different cars and both icons.

    Thanks for posting!

A few months back, I met a very nice couple who had their immaculate (and unrestored) 959 in a small local Porsche club event. As I understood it, it was a non-Canepa car. The car was a silver color I believe but I remember seeing this light gold-ish or bronze-ish silver panel in the engine bay which was different from the external paint. Beautiful little details we don't see in every day photos.

Saw it tonight parked in front of a restaurant near my house. Pristine silver example...nary a rock chip anywhere. Valet simply smiles and says "It's Bill's".... ;)

I have driven several of the 959's and the F-40. I did performance driving for Keulyian for about 10 years. Had the privelage of driving all the cars he had, including Rod Stewarts F-40, an F-50, several XJ 220's, all 6 VTTT's, Lambo's factory owned SV-R, Diablo GT's, the Bugatti 110's as well as numerous supercharged Diablos.

The 959 was *****in, the F-40 a different beast, especially over 4000 RPM's. The VTTT's were out of control, and the second turbo kicking in on the XJ 220 was radical!

At one point Vik had 7 959's and 6 XJ 220's. Mike Tyson bought two of each.

    I'm gonna miss that job!

A toothpaste tube and a 959 look like they were designed by the same person.

Clever car, but surely the ugliest of all Porsches (4WD's excluded).

Well yesterday, I just bought myself a 959 as company for my anti-959(aka F40). Should be a good pair together. Car is currently having a thorough recommissioning as it is a low mileage car(6k). Should have it in early Jan. Will then give it a proper shakeout and get back to you all with my impressions. Lovely car though IMO. Very special. This is the car that effectively launched every 911 from that point on. Every 911 to this day has some bit of technology that was tested and used on the 959 at the time. Hugely influential car for Porsche's history. Entirely groundbreaking. I know it doesn't quite have the buzz of my F40, but still just as capable. Anyway I love it.

My car appeared on a vid for Car magazine last year. You can see it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp-ws9fFHQc

Great acquisition! Interesting color. Looks like granite/darker gray in the video. I've had my 959 looked at my Porsche's UK Special Vehicle Liaison. Who are you using?

Thanks. Yes the colour is meteor gray. It was a one-off special request as it wasn't in the normal colour options line-up(now I think it is freely available).
It is being dealt with by Porsche UK in Reading as only 2 people in the country have been formally trained to service these cars. The guy dealing with mine is John Manning.

ALEX: As rare as 959s are in general, yours is even more so with the one off color. Congrats on a great purchase. A few years ago a medium blue metallic 959 was advertised here in the States. If it wasn't a one off, it was one of just two or three. The price was nuts-ola, though, north of $600K. I have not seen a white 959 in person, but from the photos the car looks great in that color. My silver 959 will be coming to the U.S. in the next few weeks. It's a high mileage driver, maintained by the book and with all updates, including different turbos. This was the car used by Octane magazine in its January 2008 comparo against an F40. Enjoy yours!

Yes Don, I remember reading about that car. I believe Simon Kidston sold it. It also had the power upgrade(which I am thinking about too). Great car also! Well driven!! Mine has only 6k but I plan on using it and get a few miles on it. We'll see... How long have you had it?

I would have loved to Jas, however it's an hour away and only open during normal working hours and I'm working during those times. I will try to get them to take some photos, however you can't always rely on them to take the interesting shots!
