so is Bryan still coming over tmrw eve? What time?
I dropped in on Todd and his friend to document to 355 oil change process tonight. All seemed pretty simple and straightforward, really. You have to remove the rear-most belly pan to access the two drain plugs (primary and sump). Everything else is handled from above. Bryan explained the filter requires an extra amount of torquing to prevent the seal from blowing out. Added 9 qts of 5w50 Agip synthetic, ran the motor for a brief period, then topped off with one more qt... 10 in total. I believe Todd now posseses the skills to make some extra cash shld the collections thing ever fade out. Thanks for having me over bro. Nice Work Greg...I never saw you even taking 1/2 those pics...I thought you took 2 or 3...very nice effort dude. Here's the deal: 1. With an 8mm Allen socket and a 4mm torx bit, remove the undershield surrounding the engine area underneath the car. 2. With a 12mm socket, remove the primary engine oil drain plug and drain the oil. 3. With a 22mm socket (and a 4" extention), remove the sump oil drain plug and drain the oil. 4. Replace both drain plugs with new washers. 5. Secure undershield 5. Lower car down to ground and open hood to engine bay 6. Remove old oil filter and replace with new (prior to replacing with new, coat the seal to new oil filter with about a dime size of oil using index finger) and be sure to make a conscience effort to really tighten filter. 7. Add 9 liters of 5w50 Agip synthetic 8. Run car for a few minutes until oil pressure is built up. 9. Shut car off and immediately check oil level on dipstick 10. If the oil is at the lower end of the dipstick, add one more liter and oil will reach the middle of the range on dipstick. 11. Strip down completely naked and lie face down in a pile of snow and sing show tunes. In all seriousness, a big thanks to Bryan Vignale at Independent Motor Works 973-376-7888 for being so cool and doing the house call. Cheers! TTG
Hutch... he was wearing a WHITE dress shirt while under the car! LOL And for the record, step #11 is optional, and I did not participate in that one.
You can substitute #11 with #12...Do jumping jack on your front lawn while smearing jam on your neighbor's back

Forget the oil change, nice garage Todd! Where did you get that floor tile? How do you like the superlift? Steve
I need a garage like that to work on my TR - how much would you charge me to use it for a couple months over the winter so I can do the major on my TR? Forget it, I'm just dreaming...
I have never changed the oil in my 355, however, I change the oil in my boats all the time and the boat engines cost more than the Ferrari. Both have something in common in that they are dry sumped systems. You should be able to run the engine for a couple minutes and extract most of the oil using a suction pump through the top of the dry sump tank. You will never get it all but you should change your oil as soon as it changes color. More frequent oil changes (and filters too) is cheap insurance. After extraction, check to see how many quarts (liters) were removed and replace with the same amount. A dry sump system pumps the majority of oil in the resevoir. As the engine sets oil will bleed back through the lines to the oil pan. It could take as long as 3 days to seep.
Todd!!!! Nice garage can i get the EC VIP discount also need to do some serious work on my F-355 .lolololo by the way nice car what year is it?
Todd, Just picked up on the thread. I'm around this weekend, if you want me to stop over and give you a hand. I have a bunch of metric tools including Allen wrenches and assorted other goodies, if you want me to bring anything over. You have my number, give me a shout. Steve p.s. I'll bring my new ride over. And it's NOT a 355. I went an entirely different direction to gain a solid track car.
Thanks Steve...you are a gentleman. Btw, this thread is from last year...somehow it came back to life. Bring the ride over any time...or I 'll stop over this week. TTG
