    Greetings from Maine...
It's 4:30am on March 12th (Saturday). I'm looking out the window. There's about 8 feet of snow piled up on either side of my driveway and its snowing like crazy outside. Forecast calls for another 12-20" of snow. At this rate it will be June before the little red Italian gets fired up and hits the road. So today I'm going to pull out some DVD's of Ferrari events, brouse through my Gilles Villeneuve biography, and take an inventory of my Griot's products. After all the forecast for Tuesday is ...more snow....

I think it's official, I just put more miles on my snowblower than I did on the 328 last year! I put some octane boost in my 1954 vintage 6hp Ariens Snowblower and did some donuts in the driveway this morning. The machine is 51 years old and all original..Although it starts on the first pull and runs great, I think that after this season it may need a major. Anyone think I'll be able to get a Tubi for it?

I'm in NJ and I drove my car all winter. Frankly, life is just too short.

You know me better than that! It doesn't matter what I'm driving (or what I will be driving). I just can't put the car away. So it gets dirty. I just clean it. Big deal.

Sigh good weather is coming...maybe it broke down off of Route1 or something.

There's an old saying... Where there's a will there's a way. In six winters in the Ct. river valley I can't remember leaving my 308 or TR sitting idle for more than two to three weeks at a time. On most weekends my ritual is on a cold Sat. or Sun morning, if the roads are clean and dry, out they come one at a time for a 30-45 minute run. First local roads then I-91 for a good high speed run.
Western MA was probably a bit lucky this year as a few of the big storms bypassed us and dumped on Eastern MA, so I can sympathize withyou guys.
But spring's only a few days away now and then down go the windows and we add sound to the great ride!!!

Hey Phil... how ya doing ? Aint seen you since Chris's cookout last spring.

You're right bout spring being a few days away but it's gonna take some hefty rainstorms to rid the roads of the mega tons of sand thats on them at this point here in eastern side of the state.

Patience is the word around here :(

It's not the sand but the salt that I'm worried about. The early 308s had NO rust protection at all, and are made with notoriously lousy Italian steel. If you look at it too hard, it rusts. Got to be careful with that. A 328 at least has some rust protection. I couldn't care less how cold it is outside. As soon as we get a good hard rain to rinse the roads, I'm driving it!!

Roads in my area finally decent enough to at least drive back an forth to work so I took cover off yesterday to drive home. Figured I might as well put top down as it was sunny out but top stopped in the middle of the process. Tried checking fuses and boy those Italians put the boxes in some out of the way places. Gave up and took my truck home and worked on it this morning. Used the emergency procedure to get top locked in the closed position , what a pain. Windows still stuck open but at least I can drive. On the plus side F&MoNE our going to send out their flat bed to get it next week and will save me the back and forth trip I was planning on next month for service

Speaking of sand, salt and the ravages of winter in Eastern MA... I have a stupid question....

Can the underside of a car be rustproofed more than once? My 328 is now hitting 20 years old and wonder if I should be looking into doing more rust prevention from the underside...

I do have 2 minor (I am praying it is minor) rust spots on the body that I want to take care of this year, but wonder about doing further preventative care...

Brandon, IIRC, the 328 has a zinc-dipped body, so no rustproofing need be done (but check, because I'm not sure what year Ferrari started doing it). And "aftermarket" rustproofing can actually do more damage than good, because it can trap moisture against the metal and ENCOURAGE corrosion.

Just be sure to fix rust whenever you do find it.

    vty,

Arrgh! Three months have passed and my plight hasn't changed! It's been raining for a solid week with rain forecast through the beggining of next week. We're heading into the 5th weekend in a row of solid rain and depression is setting in...not so much from the weather but from having to watch the 328 languish in the garage.:(

I know that there is no rule against driving in the rain, but, listening to the engine notwithstanding, it's just not as fun. Maybe I should consider moving to a better climate...

Mmmm...sell my business, house, leave my family and friends for the drive...at least my priorities are in order!;)

    Pete,

I totally understand! While I have had the chance to take my car out, the weekend rain has made a real dent into my Springtime Ferrari plans....

Let me know where you decide to move to! I may decide to do something similar! LOL
