Yes, they were 3/4 size Spits and the company was run by Mike O'Sullivan under the Supermarine Aircraft name.
The aeroplanes he builds has a wingspan of around 28 ft, but the real deal is 36' 10" so you're not to far off.
A slippery aeroplane through the air, and retractable undercarriage just like the real thing.
We did some initial work with him as he wanted to have an alloy aircraft not just some fibreglass kit.
He did a great job and was very passionate, and made a good product, and had a strip and workshop out at Moggill.
But the powers that be in Australia, and this is a story we've heard so many times, hounded the guy, until he said you can all "bash it out your blurter" and moved his operation to Texas USA.
Yet another Australian industry gone from our shores.
He did tell me that he had pilots with lots of hours under their belts on real Spitfires, fly his example, and they commented how very impressed with how they performed like the original.
As far as I am aware there are no two seater Spitfires in Australia, but I know Ross Pay at Pay's Aviation in Scone is looking at having one either next year or the year after for flights.
I think the P51 Mustang at Caboolture airfield has a back seat, and there might be an airworthy Spitfire at Archerfield.

My brother took an aerobatic flight in a 2 seat P51 based at Archerfield back in 2022. Highly recommended! That merlin V12 sounded amazing!!
They had a spitfire there too but only single seater...
